READING! My favorite thing to do since I was a kid and still is  ;D

I also enjoy doing anything with my daughter: cooking, gardening, swimming...(oh yea, my husband too, hehe)

I used to run everyday and did half-marathon races until I had my first flare in 09  >:( I still can't find something that makes me feel the way running did but I've been swimming a lot and enjoy to walk.

I have a Great Dane/German Shepard dog that we rescued last year and she's fun to play with, a real gentle giant.

I like to can (jam, veggies) just made 40 jars of strawberry jam.  Next will be blueberries and my favorite, blackberry!  We have tons of bushes on edge of our woods.

I have watched "Days of our Lives" since I was 8 and would cry if it ever goes away! Addicted to "House Hunters International" now too

I like to go to garage sales and auctions

I would love to learn how to :  1. knit  2. do yoga  3. learn Reiki 4. play the guitar

Most of my time is spent with my daughter, and getting the hours of every day to suffice... But, when I DO have time to do me-things, I:

1) take care of the garden we have at our summerhouse in the norwegian woods close to the sea... I have lilacs, blueberries, redcurrants, raspberries, a huge stone-bed with loads of different flowers and plants...and the forrest, we take down 2-3 huge pines or birches every year!
2) read! Always have at least 2-3 books going (working in a publishing agency, I guess it's mandatory...  ;) )
3) knit! Sadly, my arms and fingers have not been able lately!
4) sew, especially girly dresses for my daughter...will be so sad the day she no longer appreciates her mothers home-made clothes!  ;D
5) chat online! I have several forums I attend to, as well as Facebook... This hobby tends to get last call, though...
6) work out. Not favourite hobby, but needs to be done!  :P ;)
7) watch tv/movies... Nothing like curling up in the sofa in the summerhouse after a long day outside, putting on a dvd, glass of wine in hand...  8) ;D

I find this topic very inspiring!!! A lot of the things I love doing just don't get done! But seeing other people doing them, makes me want to as well!!! Thanks!!!  :D

Okay, I will come clean if I must. While I had a lot of hobbies before this disease, they are now changed.

1. Meditation: I do this for many hours per day to manage pain.
2. Listening to and sometimes watching TV.
3. Massage and Reflexology to reduce my pain.
4. Reiki to help family, friends, and myself to be calm and heal.
5. Posting on this forum and answering emails.
6. I am trying to reduce this bad habit of visiting doctors.

Interesting topic. I would break hobbies into two times of the year.

Springtime:

Forecasting then watching tornadoes and severe thunderstorms!

Rest of the year:

- Computer things unrelated to what I do at work, Facebook, photography, SciFi, reading history, watching football, and learning about almost any science

ScienceGuy, Don't you just love the square root of a negative one and its translations as they relate to SciFi!

Hi Scottie,
I'm new to the site. I love to read! I do it all the time. My daughter bought me this great pillow that holds the book so my hands don't get sore from holding it. I belong to two book clubs. They each meet once a month. I go whenever I can. I try to limit my activities when a meeting is coming up so I'm sure I'm well enough to go.  They get me out of the house and engaged with other people. It also offers some much needed brain stimulation! I highly recommend book clubs to other site members. One of mine meets at a local book store, the other at my church.

Take care everyone,
Bels

Penguin hockey, steeler football, reading here, try to work on my old jeep when my arms let me,
Watching the hummers come to the feeder in the summer,
Seeing al the baby birds come to the feeder with there parents to get fed,
Yelling at my doxie, for doing the same bad thing over and over,, I might as well try to teach a zebra to balance a beach ball on its nose,,

Scottietottie

Hi again  :)

It seems like a long time ago I started this thread but it's great to see it's still going. I've just put out a bit of money on a new pastime. I think a bit of me is planning for stopping work - although I haven't done anything about that yet.

I've bought a digital 'craft cutting machine' and various items for either cardmaking or scrap booking. I've made a few cards for people and am going to make logos for T-shirts in the workplace.
If I stop work I think I'll make scrap book embellishments and sell them on Ebay.

I'm still singing!   :)

Take care - Scottie  :)

This is an older topic started in 2010, but we've had so many newbies that I thought it would be fun to bump this back up to the top of the list to see if we can add any more posts to this thread.

From what I've read in others posts on the forum - we have a multi-talented group of people here!   ;D

Several of our members have run marathons, are crafty, dancers, singers, painters, teachers, etc. - what do you like to do in your spare time?  (Or, maybe it's a paying job for you . . all the better.   ;D)

Looking forward to new replies of what your hobbies and interests are.  Maybe, some of the older posts here have added new interests or hobbies too.   :D

It's always good to have something you are interested in and takes your mind off of Sjogren's for a while.

I love going to yard sales, flea markets, estate sales etc. I have found so many bargains and items that I might not see in the stores where I shop. I like to mingle with the people.

I like reading. I have found that audio books are nice to listen to, especially if read by the author.

I like to bake and decorate cakes. I used to do this for a living at one time.

I like taking walks. Intertwining with nature makes me feel real good. I have a dog and two parakeets too.

Now that I have more time. I will discover other interests. I won't focus so much on my ailments. I still have to remind myself that I cannot over-do any of these.

I just wrote a whole list, and hit something I didn't mean to so it is gone into cyber space.

I love to sew/quilt/craft, watch humming birds, other birds too, have fun with our 4 dogs, and 1 big white cat, drive on country back roads where we usually see a lot of wildlife.

I like to read, watch House Hunters, Property Virgins, House(not sure why), an occasional Waltons, and Little House on the Prairie (there I admit it).

I have a guitar that I need to take some time to learn. I also have a small organ that I haven't played much yet.  I use to play the piano pretty good.

I have a passion working with all age children (the former teacher in me).

I want to learn how to make cloth rag type dolls to give as gifts, and to donate to other children.

I just love these days looking at the good in the simple things now, and I love it.

I also stay glued to talk radio. I love when I can to do extra things in our home to make it more cozy too. It is a slow process for me though. (but that's ok)

I LOVE COFFEE!!!!  I will never give up  coffee. We both enjoy it first thing in the morning until it is empty, in the afternoon until it is empty, and all the way until bed time.

I have always wanted to write a book, but something holds me back.

well, that's all for now folks.

Like most mind depends on if I'm up and about or stuck in bed for days on end and of course the time of year. Shesh never realized my life was so complex lol

I LOVE Nascar.... I also LOVE Football! To bad my hubby doesn't like either one  ::) Football is almost over so that means nascar is right around the corner! And so is spring lol See this is how I keep the seasons in line.

I do like to read but I'm very picky. My favorite Author is VC Andrews.

Playing games on facebook - so addicting!

I like to make candles, felt type things (lately it's cupcakes) I also like to bake and cook home made when my body says it's ok to do so :) I tried to garden last year but I couldn't deal with the humidity so it turned into hubbys job lol I want to start making jewelry... I'm sure hubby is already rolling his eyes saying "more junk"  ;D

I'm not one to actually watch tv or movies but I also can't go without it in the background :)

And my animals, they are my company when hubby is at work. We have a Great Dane/Collie Mix, Hairless Chinese Crested, 3 cats and a big tank of Angelfish that I just enjoy watching swim around. They are such a pretty fish :)

At my "sick" times it's a laptop and a few animals in bed with some books around :)
