Hello. I'm wondering what color the sjogren awareness ribbon is. Some places I read it is periwinkle blue, and other places I read it is purple. Anyone know for sure? I do wanna make a ribbon and put a picture of it in my blog, I have lots of ribbons from back when I was knitting baby clothes and put ribbons on them at the end. But which color is the correct one for sjogren syndrome?

Thank you!

Elida :)

I've got a purple wrist band on for Sjogren's, so I'd assume it's purple.

I usually see purple, which I've also heard can represent autoimmune conditions in general.  I don't know how reputable the source is, but that's what it says here, too: http://www.fundraisingforacause.com/ribbon-color-meanings.html

People might think your ribbon is for lupus, but Sjogren's is so similar that I think that actually provides a fine conversation starter (the main purpose of the ribbon, I assume, as most people won't know for sure what it stands for without asking).

Thank you so much for your response! I think I remember some years back it was discussed in here, and it was said it is periwinkle blue. But I like purple better, and according to that list, it seems correct too! So I'll stick to purple! :)

Thank you!!

I believe the official color for Sjogrens Syndrome is periwinkle.

Maybe you could make a double ribbon.  That would be unique.  One for Sjogrens and one for AI.  Could start a whole new trend.

Same here, I thought it was periwinkle too.

I checked a few sites online and every one I checked said the color for Sjogren's is purple.

Wow! I didn't even know Sjogrens had a ribbon. Good to know. Is there a bracelet like the yellow ones for cancer?
I miss the good old days. Things were more like they used to be back then.

The color of the ribbon was said to be periwinkle some years back when it was discussed on these boards. So I really thought it was periwinkle. But searching on the net now, I see most places refer to purple as the correct color.

I have a periwinkle ribbon (made it myself), but it is no use in using it if the color is purple.

Maybe a double band would be a great idea. There should be one color representing autoimmune disease in general, and the different types like sjogrens, lupus and so on, should be marked with a narrower ribbon on top of the base color.

Years ago when we first started recognizing Sjogren's Syndrome Month I called the SSF in Maryland and was told by the staff there that the official color for Sjogren's is PERIWINKLE.

If you want to wear Purple, wear Purple, but the official color was and still is Periwinkle.

Yes it was stated on these boards too a few years back that the color is periwinkle, but on the internet it says otherwise. I think it was referred to Maryland back then too. I found nowhere something about purple back then anyhow, so I guess I'll just pull out my ribbon from the drawer, the periwinkle one, and use it.

Sjogren's syndrome month?  :-[
Uh oh.....when? Which month?
I wasn't aware there was a whole month!  :-[  :)

Well, I just had to ask.

I wrote to the SSF and said we were having a discussion about whether the awareness color for Sjogren's Syndrome is periwinkle or purple and here is the reply:

"Very interesting question and it tends to come up a lot, but as far as we
know there is no "official" color for Sjogren's. But we at the foundation
tend to use periwinkle with some accents of purple in our newsletters and
other items we either sell or print."

Soooo - looks like either or both.  Nice to have a choice!   ;D
