I went for usual bad sinus infection, and a few other things. The thing that really upset me was for the first time ever I had the courage to tell her that I have been so sick for so long, and I can barely make it through the days at work.

She was anything but sympathetic. She said, "oh honey you will be worse if you quit, it's all an attitude". My husband told her that the principal is also a micro manager, and is not understanding of my illness. The doctor says, "it's that way everywhere". She totally dismissed everything I said about being sick.

I know I need my regular doctor to fight for me too with paper work etc. to get disability. I guess I need to look for another GP. Where I live it's getting hard to find a new one. I felt so  discouraged, but I will be ok. I don't know what I expected from her anyway given that  when I have tests done there they never send a copy on to my rhuemy.

Just a vent. Hope everyone is dealing with their stuff ok.

I am so sorry to hear this. It is so hard that when we turn to the people that are suppose to help us, our doctors, they seem to dismiss our issues. I hope that you are able to find a new GP that will actually listen to you.

Susan, If you aren't already doing so start documenting each day with your health issues. Also document situations at work along with administrations reactions and decisions regarding your illness. You will need to have all the ammunition possible to fight--especially if you have a doc who just doesn't get it.

Most people do not get the fatigue that we have as they have never experienced it. The only way to describe what is happening is to document what you can't do because of you health. Also keep track of your infections. You seem to be having more of them. Has anyone every checked your t-cells or IgG levels? These are blood markers that show how well your immune system is protecting you against infection. Working with kids is just the worst place to be when one gets sick a lot.

Hope you can find a new doc. I think that it will be hard to find a doc all over the USA. Also, I think that you doc is right about employers reactions to employees health issues. They have to pay through the nose if they let people go and they live in fear of being taken to court for discrimination. Plus with todays budget issues employers are not are accomodating as they used to be. They have to be accountable to their shareholders or to the board. Good luck and hope you feel better. Irish ;D
