I have 3 cats, and my oldest cat - a sweetheart of a cat is ill.   Biggest problem is they cant figure out what the problem is.

She had been having problems off and on since end of January, with either throwing up or not eating.
Then when I came home on Thursday from work, she was no longer able to walk properly.  (had been walking just fine when i left in the morning).

My vet ran lots of tests and sent me to a very special vet group that ran even more tests.  They keep ruling things out, but have not determined the cause.

My little cat is 15 years old and so very very confused right now (not her normal state at all).  I have her isolated in my bedroom, so that she is away from the other cats.   And so I can tell if she is eating anything.
It is so hard breaking to see her try and walk and if she is not careful, she falls over.

And my other two cats don't understand why I have closed them out of my bedroom. The first night, one of them, scratched or meowed at the door off and on all night.

Its been hard for me to eat the last few days and now i seem to have a constant headache.  I know it is all stress related.   And its hard to get any good sleep, since I keep waking up and then need to check on her.  At least it is now the weekend, so I can make my own schedule.

Guess I am hoping for some prayers and good wishes to be sent her way.

Sending lots of little kitty prayers and good wishes your way!

I hope they can find out what is wrong with her asap and get her fixed up.....poor little girl....and the not knowing must be so very hard on you and the other cats in the house as well.

It's the weekend so try to take extra good care of yourself and the two little ones that don't understand whats going on...and give that sick kitty lots of love and hugs!

Poochie

Poor kitty, and my sympathies are with you losing all this sleep.  I know what I went through when my PoohBear was so sick with Lyme's.  I didn't get much sleep laying on the floor with her through those painful nights she went through.  She's better now, but still has the joint pain that flares up when she gets to active, but she has done so good on the glucosime for dogs.   :)

I pray your kitty will rebound from this illness and be your old sweet kitty again.  My prayers to St. Francis of Assisi are with you and Kitty.  ;)

Hugs, Pooh

Hoping Kitty picks up soon and gets back to her sweet mischievous self.  Betty and Teddy cats send cat-love her way.  Hope you can get some proper rest and get your appetite back soon XX Ailsa

I am so praying that your kitty will be feeling better soon.  It is so heartbreaking when your animals get sick and you can't seem to find a way to make them feel better.  If nothing else your love and concern are all important.  Your kitty is very blessed to be so loved.  i know the stress of caring for a sick pet.  Take care and I will pray for the best.

Aw Ohiocat, I'm so sorry that your cat is ill, and I'll keep her in my prayers too.

Take care of the kitty, and I hope everything works out well too...

At least she is eating now and keeping it down.   Of course the appetite stimulate pill (1/4 tablet) and anti-nausea/anti-motion sickness pill (1/2 tablet) is most likely helping with that.

She is still walking funny and if she gets up on something, she tends to fall or flip over in trying to get down. I have been trying to encourage her not to jump up on the bed as a result.  Everything that she needs is down on the floor.

She does not understand why she is not allowed to wander around the house.  A few times she has been standing by the door as if she expects me to let her out of the bedroom.  But she seems rather content as long as I am in the bedroom with her.

Tomorrow I head back to work and hope she will be okay.  Tuesday I have to drop her off for another appointment at the vet medical hospital.  Maybe they will be able to determine something more then.

:)   So glad to hear kitty is on the mend... When I'm not home, hubby says my three find a spot and spend the day relaxing and lots of napping. Bet that's what Miss Kitty will do while you're at work tomorrow.

Looking forward to your next update.    Joy and Kitty Iris, Rose, and Marianne

Ohiocat . . . hope your kitty is feeling better today.  Hopefully, the trip to the vet tomorrow will be encouraging.  Do you leave a radio or anything on for kitty while you are gone?  She might enjoy the noise versus complete quietness while you are gone.

Please take care of yourself too!!  I know it's hard not to worry.

I am glad to hear Kitty is a little better, My cat's and I will say a little prayer for her.  We had a cat Tillie, who was 19 and she had some sort of stoke in April last year, she would fall over and had trouble walking.  She was also deaf and blind.  I callled the vet to have her put down, but she must have heard me because we could not find her when it was time to go.  I made another appointment, and she missed that one too.  Around this time I say a program on the animal channel about big cats, Tigers and lions etc.  The program was on a therapist who would do a message on the cats if they were ill.  I know it sounds off the wall, but there was something to it. Animals have pressure points just like we do.  I started the massages every day with Tillie and she started to walk much better, her fur improved and her appetite also.

Tillie was my husbands cat and he was very attached to her, the vet was amazed by her progress, but her age got the better of her.  She started to have in-continace and loose bowels and we did have her put down about 6 months later.  Now she has her place under her favorite tree, but we still miss her.

I hope for the best for you and your kitty. Take care of yourself.
Jules
