I have hoarseness on occasion and am also always clearing my throat...I chalk it up to the dryness!

That was a problem I had frequently, and my doctor kept telling me I had GERD! Never had heartburn in my life, so I wasn't buying it, but finally, to humour him, I agreed to take a trial of Losec....it worked!

Since I started the Losec (recently replaced by Tecta) I no longer lose my voice, and have lost the hoarse, gravelly tone I was developing. Might be worth looking into.

My doctor told me it was from reflux. I take protonix 2 times a day. It works great.
primary sjogrens, adderall xr, diclofenac ,vitamin d3, percocet, b12,b6, omega3, ibuprofen, protonix, voltaren gel, lots of sugarless gum and candy.

Yep, I can relate to this one!
Sometimes my voice is a major problem it get's hoarse and even disappears, especially when I do a lot of yelling during play rehearsals.

hey,
i have been on prevacid 30mg twice daily for just over a year, so not reflux.   :-\  any other ideas, voice is completely gone today, and i haven't even been talking :o

We get dryness in anyplace where there should be moisture.  Your throat and esophogus etc are no different.  One of my first annoying symptoms was always having to clear my throat.

I've never done this before, so I hope that this posts right :) I also have this problem and it is accompanied by bad throat pain.  I have been diagnosed with Sjogren's for about 4 years now.  They tried to say I had reflux several times, but after being scoped twice, going to GI and being put on Prevacid and other similar meds, they have found no evidence that I have any reflux or GI problems. It's just the typical dryness and basically it just stinks.  I was on Metho injections for almost two years and that helped tremendously, especially when we added the Humira every other week.  Then in November of last year, I got H1N1 and was very sick.  Then I caught Pneumonia right afterward, and they had me off of all immune suppressors.  When I tried to go back on the Metho, my body completely rejected it.  I got really ill and had to be hospitalized.  So that ended that, and my body has rejected several meds since.  I am still on the Humira, every week now, and it helps with the Psoriatic arthritis, but not so much with the Sjogren's symptoms. Is anyone else on other meds that helps with the Sjogren's symptoms more?  I know about the Evoxac and Salogen, but how about any others? Thanks for listening and any advice in advance.  The throat pain is very debilitating at times, although I have very much learned to tune it out.  I am a youth pastor and faith is a big part of my coping skills.  I have chosen to not use any pain medications to this point and hope to keep on that road indefinitely.
