I had a nice walk around the lanes near qork yesterday. Today is an achey day, so will abstain. Maybe make up for it tomorrow.

Day 10

Happy Friday everyone.   ;D  Today is Day 10 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

To date, we have 39 members who are participating in this venture.   :D  Woohoo . . . we're 1/3 of the way thru our 30 days.

I had this page all typed out, hit the send and it didn't go through!!  Now to try and remember what I had typed . . . .  Yesterdays sunshine quickly changed as the rain moved in to stay for the rest of the day.  This morning it is cloudy and the rain is on the way.  Sigh.  Standing on the porch watching the clouds, they were really moving on!  I've always thought about being a weatherman (or woman . . hee hee).  Some days I think they just flip a coin . . . 50/50 chance of rain.   ::)  Or, I've thought about being a "storm chaser".  I watch the clouds and sky quite a bit.  Here in the Midwest our weather can change quickly.  We've had some major tornadoes roll thru the area within the last few years.  When they start issuing watches and warnings on TV, we pay attention.  My favorite clouds are the big white puffy ones with the blue sky peeking out behind them.  I also like that big yellow ball in the sky . . . I think they call it the sun!!   ;D

Everybody have a good weekend.  Remember to keep up with your 10 minutes outdoors each day.  Everyone is doing a great job . . keep it up!  If you are just now reading this thread, it's NOT too late to join us.    ;D

It's been a beautiful week here in Brighton, UK but today it's a bit cloudier.  The local children are all on half term holiday so the weather's been perfect for playing outside.

This morning I had a trundle through the park next door to the block of flats/apartments we're moving to.  The squirrels were chasing each other and ignoring the flocks of pigeons.  I saw the tiniest little dachshund dog, just a baby who was very fearful and wanted to be cuddled.

The greatest joy was having my son Joe with me.  He came home last night, flying in from Princeton NJ for his week of Fall break.  He hadn't seen the new flat yet, apart from photos we'd sent him and I was really looking forward to his reaction to it.  He loved it!  It's a big move for us, prompted by my mobility issues - so it's quite emotional leaving the family home for difficult reasons.  But we're all being very positive about it, and he's the most positive of us all.  He's such a blessing.

From the park we went to the hospital for the 6th of 8 iron infusions the haematologist ordered to tackle my anaemia.  Joe came with me and was good company, chatting with me and the other patients, fetching us tea and being very loving.  It's sad that young men get such a bad press; maybe we should all treasure the ones we know who manage to be gentle and loving when society expects them to be tough?

Great idea! I'm late getting involved, because I've been on vacation, but as a result of the vacation, I was actually outdoors more than normal, and got to enjoy some really different "outdoors".
Day 1-A bit of shopping and exploring in Peace River, Alberta; 10 minutes at least in various parking lots, while hubby enjoyed his breaks from a 5 hour drive.
Day 2-Explored the town of High Level, Alberta; 10 minutes was more than enough to walk the whole Main Street!
Day 3-A bit snowy and chilly, but still a nice enough day to be out walking around the hotel property.
Day 4-An adventure to the Northwest Territories! Mostly driving, but a lovely hike from the road down to the fantastic Alexandria Falls. A good half hour of fresh air and partial sunshine (the damp white kind we Canadians call snow)
Day 5-A reverse of the 5 hour drive of Day 1, with a break in Fairview, Alberta...a bit of roadside walking to get a few pictures.
Day 6-Shopping! Wandering about Grande Prairie, Alberta, some indoors at malls, but also out between various shops, accompanied by 2 of my three granddaughters and my daughter, so an energetic outing for sure.
Day 7- Cooped up in various airplanes and airports all day, but managed to get out of Pearson in Toronto for an extended walk in balmy 12oC degree weather.
Day 8- Got my 10 minutes early, if not bright, when the fire alarm in the hotel made evacuation necessary at 6:45AM...Standing around in the parking lot counts, right?
Day 9-Home again, and believe me, tidying up the yard after a 2 week absence, with a wind and rain storm in the middle, took longer than 10 minutes!
Day 10-today-another lovely mild indian summer day, actually BBQd so had a wonderful time on the deck, and put out some Halloween decorations..

I guess this makes me #40, and I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's outdoor adventures. So glad I had my journal, so I could "post date" my involvement.

Yesterday was a rainy day - I went outside for my daily check around the garden, but not much else.  The biggest flowers in the garden right now are huge clusters of mauve spider mums. Very grateful the person who mows my lawn came by to rake up the leaves the day before!

Tonight was the usual walk through the prison yard to meet with the Friday night group. Much drier than last week - just a powerful wind out there, blowing the leaves around. It was nice not to be sopping wet all evening.

Tomorrow I'm driving over the mountain pass to spend the day in the eastern part of our state. There was snow in the passes a couple of days ago, but it has warmed up to where the snow level is above the pass now, so no problem driving. It should still be beautiful - looking up the slopes of evergreen trees with their dusting of snow. I'll be walking around in sagebrush country during the day.

Today was simply one of the most beautifulest days I have ever seen. The temperature was around 80 degrees someone said, just enough wind to blow the leaves as I drove. an overcast to the sky. I do not remember ever seeing such a day, have heard many speak of the beauty of fall, but it was all just a blurr for me though. Not anymore. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did spend some time out, but not as much as I would have liked, by evening when I got off work it started to rain.

I love the fall, before I never got to appreciate it. Spring has always been my favorite time of the year, but Fall is now a very close second. Oh, the colors!!!!!!

I am like a kid with questions about nature. Like, I felt silly asking my husband the first day of sight, if clouds are always out in the sky. I've heard of "clear blue skies", but did not know if it was just fantasies or really truth. I have not seen a clear blue sky yet, but I bet it's just as beautiful as a cloudy day.

I feel like I have gone to heaven.

I hope this weekend is rain free now that I have my house clean I WANT to be outside just looking around.

Day 11

Happy Saturday everyone.   ;D  Today is Day 11 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

To date . . . . . drum roll please . . . we have 40 members who are participating in this venture.   ;D  I am so thrilled that we have this many who are willing to participate.  Good job everybody!!   ;D

This morning it's quite windy here (the story of living in Central Illinois . . . it's either windy or rainy).  Bundled up for my 10 minutes this morning as the temperatures are chilly with that wind.  This morning I wanted to finally figure out what it was that was hiding in a spot in the woods on the side of our house.  On the days I have walked past there this week "something" always goes running.  Today I was hoping to finally "see" what it was.   I slowly walked to the spot where it always runs from and focused my eyes on that spot.  Even though I was waiting for "it" to run, it still startled me when it did.  Just as I thought . . . "it" is a wild bunny rabbit.   :D  Awww, Peter Rabbit (or is it Paula Rabbit?) is living in our woods.  Hmmmm . . . if there is one rabbit, maybe there are more??  Where do they come from?  They just "appear" out of nowhere.  For those of you who raise rabbits . . . what can I feed this wild rabbit?  Something I can on occasion throw out there where I know he/she is living.

Then . . . I come inside and am sitting at the computer typing this and I hear a bang on the front door.  Hmmmm . . .  Figured it was just the wind outside.  I decided to go check it out.  There is Spooky proudly sitting next to the mole she had just caught.  She wanted my attention so that I could praise her for her catch.  She will not touch her catch until I have seen it and told her "good girl Spooky".   ;D  Like I have mentioned in another post . . I have one smart cat . . she bangs on the door because she knows someone will come.  That's my girl!!

Those of you living in the U.S.A., don't forget to turn your clocks BACK an hour tonight if you do that in your state (some don't).  Also, now would be a good time to check your smoke alarms and make sure they are in working order.  Replacing the batteries is a good idea too.

Enjoy your day.   Keep up the good work!!  ;D

Happy Saturday to you too Bucky!

My 10 minutes were spend on the field with Jaffa. We had a lovely time, and both had a rest afterwards.

My day 11 was windy, but mild, and I walked to my neighbour's houses, reverse trick or treating...I delivered Halloween cookies! The wind calmed for a few hours around suppertime, so we were able to BBQ again, gotta love this outdoor living!

Day 12

Good morning . . . happy Sunday to everyone.   ;D  Today is Day 12 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

This morning was quiet outside.  The only sounds were the cows down the street and the birds chattering.  The clouds look like cotton balls all smashed together.  The sun was out too.   ;D  There was a lot of chatter from a group of four birds.  My guess is they were giving directions for their trip today and then off they flew.  LOL

Today is a brand new day . . . I hope you enjoy it and it would even be better if it was a painfree day for you.

Happy Sunday Bucky!

Well here in west Yorkshire, the rain has been pouring down. I only managed a quick trip to the car, then from the car into church. There was too much water for anything else. However, I did have ten minutes in the conservatory with my 3 year old grandson. We watched the wind blowing the leaves in the garden and then, magically, he spotted a rainbow, so we had to sing 'Red, and yelllow, and pink and green - so we sang a rainbow, and really enjoyed ourselves.

After having him and his 14 month old sister to look after for 24 hours, we are all absolutely pooped, so going off to a darkened room ... :)

Wow...you all are doing a great job! I have seen this thread going on but never had the time to just sit down and read it all until now! I love this time of the year....cool weather with the leaves all changing and looking so beautiful! I have enjoyed reading all of your posts describing what you are doing each day in your area of the world!

Bucky...you are quite the writer when it comes to describing nature! I can picture perfectly everything that you are seeing  because of the wonderful written descriptions! We have an author in the house!!

My Day 12 started out rainy and windy, but cleared midday so I could go for a walk, even hiked off road a bit! To be honest, if not for this thread, I might have given in to the earlier weather and stayed in the house...I'm so glad I didn't!My legs aren't speaking to me right now, (probably a good thing, cause I think they might use some foul language :o ) but I definitely had a lovely walk!
