Chickpea

Hi everyone

It's a beautiful day here today in Brighton, UK.  The sea looked lovely, an assortment of sparkling blues.

Today's trundle was through a park next to the apartment block/flats that we're hoping to move to.  We watched the squirrels teasing the dogs who had been let off their leads, the children on their bikes, the young families struggling to cope with the early start to the day now the clocks have changed!  We felt very middle-aged!!

Love to all - Chickpea

Scottie - I always push tissue into my ears if it's windy, or I get earache too  :(

I had a fabulous ride this afternoon.  My friend came with me and we had a fabulous gallop alongside the edge of a man-made lake.  The autumn trees were every colour of red, gold and yellow, and the sun sparkled off the lake.  Am quite sure the horses had as much fun as we did.  Am now exhausted, but very happy  ;D

Hope you all got some quality time outside today.   xx

It was overcast this morning but by the time we got home from church, the sun had come out.  My dh and I watched the Colts game after lunch, but afterward we went outside for a stroll in our back yard.  Our goats saw us and came running over since they are accustomed to having goodies from the garden thrown into the pasture for them.  Most of the fruit of our Asian pear tree has fallen, so Brad and I threw a bunch to the does - they love fruit.  Josh, our horse, typically is with the goats to partake in the goodies, but he was being a barn potato this afternoon and lost out.  I hope you all had an enjoyable Sunday!   :D

Okay Bucky, I was outside for better than an hour today, does that count for a week?  ;) :D

Patze . . . you're always trying to skirt around the rules!!  LOL  You CANNOT bank your time outside towards future time.   However, you CAN make up for time lost.   ;D

Chickpea - your time has already changed there?  Ours doesn't change until next Sunday at 2 a.m.   Then the evenings seem to fly by really quick.  I like daylight savings time better.

Everyone is doing a great job . . keep it up.   ;D

Sweet dreams everyone.

Today was another more mundane day. I spent some time outside harvesting fresh herbs for a pumpkin soup I made this afternoon. It was pretty chilly today, raining on and off, and soup seemed like a good idea.

Tomorrow is my weekly "girls' lunch," when my daughter, my sister, and I get together for a walk and lunch. My daughter works from home and so she goes out every day for a walk at lunch and Mondays we join her. If the weather is nice we bring her doggie along and all eat down by the water and watch the boats. My guess is we'll be inside somewhere for lunch tomorrow, though.

Everyone is doing great!

I like it!  There's a local newspaer that's fee. I'll walk up the 3 blocks to the spot where I can get it. Exercise, and connecting to the community that I've just moved to. Sounds good on many levels. It is sooooooo easy to just stay put.

Thanks!

Day 6

Believe it or not, it's Monday already!!!  Today is Day 6 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

To date, we have 34 members who are participating in this 30 day venture.   ;D  Yay!!

It's a cloudy morning here in Illinois.  We're expecting rain again today . . . big surprise!!   ::)  This morning as I looked at our two maples in the front yard - they are losing their leaves quite quickly.  In fact, one of the trees is almost completely bare.   To think that just yesterday the tree was so beautiful with the oranges, yellows and red leaves and today, 24 hrs. later, those same leaves are laying scattered on the grass below.   :'(   I decided I wanted to gather some of the leaves and keep them as a remembrance of this beautiful tree.  Spooky followed me as I picked up a variety of leaves, small ones, large ones, orange, yellow and red ones.  For every leaf I picked up, my hand got nudged by Spooky wanting to be petted.   ;D  I've brought the leaves in to dry and then I will put them in a book to press them.  IF you want and have the opportunity - why don't YOU also pick up some of the fall colored leaves and save them.  At some point in the middle of winter, I'll pick a date and we'll all get our leaves out and remember we picked them on our 30 day venture.  These could be our Sjogren's leaves.  Much like us, the leaves are constantly going thru changes throughout the year.  The leaves have to hang on thru wind, rain, dry spells.  They can really withstand a lot that is being thrown at them.  We too are stronger than we think.  Many of you have had some real health trials you have faced this year.  And yet, your strength and determination have kept you going.   Keep up the fight - even though we as Sjogren's World members can't fix your medical challenges, we can surely support you and offer you a hug.   Hang in there everyone.

I hope today is a good day for you.  For those of you still have to get up each morning (or evening) and head off to work, I hope today at work hasn't been TOO hectic for you - you know how Monday's are.   ::)

Ok, Ok, I have been ignoring this topic, but it haunts me. ;D I went ahead and came back to it this time, though I haven't read any of it but the starting thread.

I will commit to the 10 minutes per day outside for one month.  :o

I have to go to the bathroom, and then I will head outdoors before it gets dark to start my first day. :-\

I've got it easy for a couple of weeks as we are tending our grandchildren in Hawaii. Next week will be the challenge when we go back to snow. Those horseback rides sound amazing

Our clocks changed yesterday, so it was dark when I got home from work this evening.  After dinner, we set off with the 3 dogs to visit the horses in their field.  It's still mild and dry here, so they are fine to stay out overnight with their "anoraks" on  ;D   Had a lovely cuddle with the two of them in the dark, and fed them some hay to supplement the grass  :D

The dogs had great fun running huge circles around the field on the way home.  The only colours this evening were dark navy blue, and the silver of the moon.  It is still quite beautiful, even in the dark, and around 14 degrees, so not too chilly - and no nasty wind to hurt my ears !!    ;D ;D

Hope you all had a nice time outdoors today.  xx

Hi all

Had a LOT more than 10 minutes "outdoor time" at the weekend! My husband and I drove across the Yorkshire moors to Whitby, walked all around the old Whitby Abbey ruins (the setting for Dracula in Bram Stoker's novel), the beach, had a pub lunch and drove back just as it was starting to get dark. The moors are always beautiful, but quite bleak now with the heather all brown, still picturesque though!

Sunday we drove to Richmond, through the Yorkshire Dales, also beautiful in a different way, much greener and "softer" than the moors. Richmond is a charming ancient town, with a cobbled market square, steep narrow lanes, and the castle looking down over it all. We climbed all the way up to the top of the 'keep', via narrow stone spiral staircases, me lagging behind but I did get there eventually! (dodgy knee means I take stairs slowly) From the top there are fab views all around, over the town, to the dales beyond. The weather was perfect, cloudy and cool, so good for me. Drove back through Catterick Garrison, a huge military area, but my husband was disappointed not to see any tanks on the roads (there are road signs warning drivers of them).

Today just a walk around Ripon, where I live, as I did some shopping this morning, and then back to teaching this afternoon.

Glad to hear everyone else is having a great time with their "10 minutes"!

Hi All,

I'm really late on this, but for every day that I can remember I will drag myself outside to do something besides walking to mailbox and car. It's soooo very beautiful here, somewhere around 80 degrees. I've just been settling for riding with car window down for fresh air.

Bernice #76, I THINK?

Count me in! I'm a few days late as I just got on board again.Walking always gives me a mental lift even if it is physically hard some days!
