Oh my, what a wonderful weekend it has been weather wise here in central Illinois....sunny...warmer that usual November weather...I just love it!

I spent part of yesterday afternoon outside in the back yard cleaning out Spooky's big tank....he is a huge water turtle and is so happy to be clean again!

We also went for a little ride later on in the afternoon to get something to eat...I was able to open the windows in the car and breathe in some of that fresh clean air! I could handle having this weather all of the time and all year round!

It was cold and drizzling here today, and the sun only came out for half an hour this morning, whilst my horses were being shod  :(

Went for a long ride this afternoon, in lots of cosy layers.  Was good to breathe in the fresh air, although everything was rather damp and wet.  Home to a hot mug of tea and currently my toes are being warmed by the dogs lying on them  ;D ;D    xx

Day 20

Morning . . . it's Monday!!   ;D  Today is Day 20 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

Today we're at the 2/3 mark of our 30 day venture.  We have 10 more days left.   :D

Not a whole lot going on outside this morning.  You could hear the buzz of traffic in the distance as everyone is heading back to their jobs.  The crows are in the woods squawking away . . . they are very noisy birds!  Our field of corn is still standing . . the boys are saying something about the ears of corn haven't "dropped",  so it's not ready to harvest yet.  Hopefully, it will happen soon though.

To those of you along the Florida, Alabama, Texas and Louisiana coast line stay safe as Hurricane Ida is expected to make landfall on Tuesday morning.  Take all preparations to be ready for the storm BEFORE it gets there.   Be prepared for power outages and flooding.  We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Hope today is a good day for everyone.   ;D

How many more days?Allergies have come on and I'm having trouble going outside.Fall is the worst for me and it's more of a surprise if I don't get sick.Asthma kicks up and glands are swelling with a drumbeat thumping in my ear.It kills me to not enjoy these last nice days before winter kicks in but hey it's not the flu.Husband raked and mowed all the leaves up and I hung over the deck watching a bit.Even scooped up a couple handfuls for him.Not much help.Round of Drs. next week for the for mo. check-up.Refills time.

Saturday we went to the racetrack so my husband could drive a race car, a Christmas present the kids and I had gotten him that he was finally getting to use. It happened to coincide with one of the best days I've had in a long time. No aching. An increase in energy. That feeling like you've stepped out of the darkness and back into the light for a little while. He had a great time driving and I had a great time watching him. His parents got to go along too, and I'm not sure who was more excited, my husband after driving or his father after watching him. They were like two little boys on Christmas morning!

Sunday we had a family get-together at his parents house to celebrate the return of one of his cousins who has been living in Dubai for the past year working as a dolphin trainer. It was so great to see her and all of her pictures, and get to hear her stories. She's moving to South Africa in December with her boyfriend to work in a big cat reserve, so the time was precious.

Now, it's Monday, back to the grind, and a realization that because of the fun weekend I got absolutely no laundry or cleaning done...but it was totally worth it!  :D

It was a very cold but beautiful day in west Yorkshire yesterday. I walked 10 minutes up the hill, bought kitty a new collar and the old dog a new chewy bone, then walked back down 10 minutes. The fresh air certainly did me good.

Bucky, I think we should extend our 30 days. We need the discipline - or at least I do!

I had a lovely walk yesterday, too. Our little "corner store" is about half a Km from my house, downhill all the way, and a beautiful stroll partly along a babbling brook. Unfortunately, to get home, one has to climb that same hill, but I made it! Half an hour in mid-teen temps (Celsius, so quite moderate) and it made me feel so alive!

I once read that, by repeating the same behaviour for a month, we make it our norm, so maybe we don't even need to extend our 30 day commitment...maybe it's become our new normal!

Today I'm off to the city again, so my walk will be on pavement, near shops (retail therapy?) after a 30 minute drive, but enjoyable just the same.

Day 21

Good morning you lovely members of Sjogren's World . . . it's Tueeeeeeeesday (that's how I wake my son up in the morning)!   ;D  Today is Day 21 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

This morning I spent my time outside loading groceries into the car and gassing up the car.  I prefer to do my errands first thing in the morning -  get in and get out!   :D  There was only a handful of vehicles in the parking lot and I can zip thru the store and get out quickly.  There is a crisp wind blowing this morning . . . brrrrrr.  I'll have my hot oatmeal to warm me up here in a few minutes.   ;D  (not a good idea to go grocery shopping when you're hungry!!)

I wish there were sidewalks along my road to walk on.  I live in the country (kinda) and the cars drive pretty fast down our winding, curvy road.  The few times we have ridden our bikes on the road we felt like we were going to get run over, so we don't do that any more.  In an effort to save on gasoline, I try not to make any more trips than I have to.  Otherwise, I "might" drive somewhere where there are sidewalks.  During the summer I got my walking in going to garage sales.  However, garage sale season is over now.   :'(

Roetta - what a fun weekend!!  I bet your husband was just thrilled to drive a race car.  A memory he'll cherish always!

Linda - I know they say if you repeat something for xxx number of days that it becomes habit.  I'm not so sure I agree with that.  At least not for myself.  I could too easily just blow it off and say "I'll do it tomorrow" and then never do it.  By stating my intentions publically it makes me be accountable to do what I said I would do.  I have been faithful for all 21 days to date!!   ;D  Kathyx - In some things I'm not too disciplined either.

Enjoy your brand new day . . . make it a good one.   ;D

OK, I am a bit late on the bandwagon as it is Nov 10th but will try for 10 minutes a day...I need to walk, before the accident I walked long distance, trained and walked in the breast cancer 60 mile 3 day walk in 2007 ! Realized after that my joints and bones couldn't do that again so have stuck to working support for my old teammates and short walks 5k, This past year I have barely walked, couldn't for awhile, just starting back when this "flare" started and ended that...will try for 10 min. that is manageable! I take my Vit. D in pill form anyway so not worried about that. I need the exercise, pure and simple!  ;)
Thanks,
RobinBat

Nothing much exciting to report except that I've been going outside every day, even with all this rain. Yesterday afternoon we had a nice break from it (what we call a "sun break" here in Seattle), and my daughter and sister and I went for our usual Monday lunch and walk through the funky little artist neighborhood my daughter lives and works in - very picturesque. We had soup and sandwiches at a well-known cafe in an old house by the ship canal. In the summer we bring her little dog along and eat picnic-style on the bank of the canal.

Better than my excursion last Friday into the storm!

We have had a string of really nice days here in Michigan.  It was 70 degrees this past weekend and we went to the Lake Michigan shorline town of South Haven and had a great time.  We walked out on the pier, but the waves were lapping the pier and I didn't want to wash into Lake Michigan.  People drown every summer on the piers because they are not careful to stay on shore when they should.

We then went to a great pub and had a burger before we came home.  Lucy

Day 22

Good morning . . it's Wednesday.   ;D  Today is Day 22 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

To date, we have 43 members who are participating in this little venture.  Welcome newbie RobinBat.   ;D

This morning I spent my time walking up and down our long driveway.  I could hear them hammering on a new house being built down the road.  As I walked up and down the driveway I could hear the dry corn stalk leaves brushing against each other in the wind (yep, another windy day here  ::)).  Two geese were honking as they flew overhead.  Hmmm, wonder why they honk . . nobody was in their way!!  LOL

RobinBat - you don't necessarily have to "walk" while you are outside . . just be outside.  There have been many mornings when it was rainy here in IL and I stood or sat on the porch - as long as I was "outside".

I hope today is a good day for everyone.   ;D

Hi Bucky!I think I'm #44. Am way behind on reading the site and have been working a lot and had 3plus back to back colds and we had been having really crappy weather. Kinda funny cuz after working this 3 day shifts of wonderful weather and missing out on the sunshine I took my lunch in the car to soak up the sun cuz I said that I maybe had been feeling so crappy cuz I was missing all my vit D.  Usually my favorite thing to do when I feel arthritic is to lay on my back on the nice warm wood deck and soak up the sun.I may have to be putting on my winter gear but oh well. So even though I'm late, count me in and I'm on day 3 of soaking up that must needed Vit D. Great job all! I'd read all the sites but my dog is waiting for her walk and me my" D".--Net

Another beautiful day...Bucky, did you bribe the weather department for these 30 days? I've never seen such a run of moderate, sunshiney days in October/November in this area!

After our cenotaph service this morning, which was held indoors in deference to the older veterans and our usually less than "clement" weather, I had another brisk, cheerful walk...sticking to the side of the highway rather than into the woods, since we are in the midst of hunting season here.
