Jaygee, where home is to you is your personal heaven as is evident in your words... Mine is in the beautiful foothills of the Great Smokey Mts in TN. Just stepped outside in my little Garden of Joy to call my 3 kitties in for the night. A full harvest moon is just appearing over yond hill... gorgeous and sooooooooo serene here in my little garden space as I brushed against the rosemary bush and its aroma floats on the nighttime air. Rosemary is for remembrance... and, remember I do all the years I have had SS... while, stepping outside monetarily putting aside E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G, and taking a d-e-e-p breath, gives me a moment to let warm thoughts enter my mind and count my many blessings throughtout my 67 years.................. Day 16

Happy Thursday everyone!   ;D  Today is Day 16 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

IF you are just now joining us in our little venture, and please do join us, the more the merrier . . . . please indicate in your post that you are joining us.  Joy, I'm not sure if you are joining us, or were just posting a reply to what someone else posted. ??  Just trying to keep the number of members participating updated.  Thanks.

This morning as I was out in the back yard, the sun just barely visible over the tops of the trees, one word comes to mind.  Brrrrrrrrrrrr  It is a brisk 31 degrees out this morning!!  There is frost on the grass and I could see my breath.  Today I was watching this squirrel busy running up and down a tree.  I'm not sure what he was doing - possibly building a nest?  It's amazing how animals can hold on as they run up and down the trees without falling off.  I'm glad my feet are firmly planted on solid ground.   ;D

Short post today . . . have an optho appointment this morning so I have to keep moving along.  Have to have my hot oatmeal to warm me up and get me moving yet this morning.    :D

Hope today is a good for you.   ;D

Hello Bucky, nice to meet you,

Thanks to all for allowing me to 'just walk' a few steps in the many paths on your daily ventures...  Daily, I read the posts and enjoy them very much! Last night, got that warm personal feeling inside about my many years as an outdoor's woman and the many special people I met.

These days, being a 'homebody' and going 2-3 times a week to Wellness Ctr. is not l-i-f-e as it has been in the past. Mother Earth's dirt has been my love-of-life and have worn out these old knees and need replacements. Cannot any longer walk my beloved paths. Have spinal issues progressing from sledding accident at 16... that big beautiful oak didn't give an inch  :o

Oops, beginning to sound like a pity party... off to get my bathing suit on and go to Wellness Ctr. to walk in the water for an hour. Thanks for 'spurring' me on today, Bucky, as hubby and son have gone fishing for the day on one of large lakes in our area.

Trust me, there are big windows on one side of the Ctr. and I turn toward them and watch the outdoor activities and appreciate all the GOOD days I have!!!!!

Again, thanks for pausing to let my path cross yours on this road of life...Granny    J   :-*  Y  in the TN hills

Joy, thank you for your lovely reply  :-*   Yes, I am very lucky to live where I do - I love the outdoor space around my home, and I love my horses and dogs - they give so much unconditional love and always make me smile, even when I'm feeling low  ;D  Looking after their needs can be hard, when I am having a bad day, but they always make such a fuss of me, they're worth it  ;D

Tonight, when I got in from work later than I'd hoped, I was a little worried that the horses might be concerned about fireworks (it's Nov 5th and bonfire night, here).  Didn't need to have worried - the horses were standing at the bottom of the paddock watching a lovely firework display on the horizon!!!!    They are so brave, they just stood there enjoying all the pretty night sky colours  ;D

I am really enjoying reading about everyone's days  ;D   xx

Another day of errends, MIL had an appointment and I'm her driver, so off I went...we arrived at the office 15 minutes prior to her appt time, and the place was locked up! She sat in the car to wait, but I took advantage of the bonus time, and stood outside, chatting with her through the window.

For the rest of the day, I made a point of dropping her at shop doors and parking away from the buildings, so I got to walk a bit, but never far enough to make my legs mad! Another lovely if chilly fall day, but I hear threats of wet white stuff overnight and into tomorrow, so my 10 minutes tomorrow may be spent clearing decks and paths, time will tell.

Day 17

It's FRIDAY!!   ;D  ;D  Today is Day 17 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

To date we have 42 members - I think, who are participating in this venture.  Joy, I'm still not 100% sure you're "IN" - but, I think maybe you are.

This morning is another "hurried" morning.  I've got things to do, places to go, people to see.   ::)  This morning I walked around the back yard.  Checked on Mr. Bunny - and as usual, he went hopping quickly to a safer place farther in the woods.  I walked along the tree line in the yard and looked thru the woods towards the ravine that is next to our house.  Ahh the memories.  Growing up in Ohio us kids would always be playing in the woods.  I love to hear the snap of stepping on branches, or the crunch of fall leaves under our feet.  I would love to venture into the woods and down into the ravine here.  However, reality says . . . GIRL, KEEP YOUR FOOTING AND STAY IN THE YARD!!  LOL  I can just picture the AFV (America's Funniest Videos) moment as I go tripping, tumbling and rolling down the ravine to the bottom.  Oh my achy breaky body!!  Plus, with it being hunting season the boys aren't too fond of me getting my "scent" in the woods when they are trying to hunt.  So, I will stay in the yard and lovingly "look" at the ravine and remember good times in my childhood.   ;D

Hope today is a fantastic day for you.  This weekend keep getting your 10 minutes outside.  Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Epson:

Do you mean burned by the refrigerator lights, or by that big light ball in the sky?

Well - I was outside finishing painting the trim around out garage doors... it took about two hours.  This weekend is supposed to be warm and sunny so I will probably find something else that needs painting!  I also need to treat the fruit trees for fungus before the winter but it is supposed to be rather windy tomorrow so I will wait for a calm day for spraying.  I hope everyone has a good weekend!   ;D

Day 18

Rise and shine everyone . . . it's Saturday!!   ;D  Today is Day 18 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

Things are pretty quiet outside this morning.  Not too much traffic - most people are probably still sleeping.  It's going to be a very windy day here (big surprise . . it's always windy, some days a lot more than others).  We're suppose to warm up to the low 70's today.  Which is great for us in Central Illinois the first week of November.  Just walked around the back yard this morning.  Those pesky moles are making our yard very mushy in some spots with their tunneling.  Spooky has a big job ahead of her to catch those moles.

Today there are lots of activities going on around town . . . open houses, craft shows, photography workshop, conferences, etc.  Myself, I am attending a conference and I better keep moving as I have some food to finish preparing to take along.

I hope today is a GREAT day for you.  Enjoy!!   ;D

Epson, isn't it rough when you get refrigerator sunburn??!!   ::)  LOL

Day 17, I spent in and out, mostly around the yard, since I was defrosting my deep freezer and couldn't wander too far, but Day 18 (thanks in no small part to this thread) I took a walk along the highway. I was just sitting at the computer, lazy after a morning of changing beds and laundry, and looking forward to a community turkey supper.

When I read this thread, it reminded me to take advantage of this beautiful sunny (if chilly) afternoon, so out I went.

Seattle's weather Friday was not real conducive to being outside the house. We had some of the worst thunder/hailstorms I've ever seen, and I've lived on the east coast and in the midwest. I was driving to my usual Friday evening group at the state prison, and had to turn around and go home as several intersections on the way were flooding, from the torrential downpour and hail (2 inches accumulation in spots). Wind gusts 40 mph. I could only see when the lightning lit up the sky, and couldn't hear the thunder due to the force of the hail. After the car floated briefly, I had had enough of the outdoors.

My husband got home from work a couple of hours later, and said the road I would have taken the rest of the way to the prison was closed due to flooding farther up, and I would not have been able to get back out. So it was a good call. Hoping to have a less hazardous day today, maybe walk around one of the city neighborhoods.

Your weather sounds awful. We have had wind and rain, but nothing like yours.

Yesterday, I did my 10 minutes walking from the station after meeting my lovely cousin, and then going to a Raise your Banner concert of songs for peace. I've never been to anythinkg like this before, and it was very uplifting.

My cousin and I are the same age, but from there, everything is different. I'm almost 5 feet tall, she's around 6 feet tall. I've been married since 18 and had three children and now grandchildren. She's never been married, and has no children. However, we are kindred spirits, even though we only meet up once or twice a year. We had a really nice sleep over and I've just taken her back to the station. I'm sattered now, so going to  chill a while.

Day 19

Good morning everyone . . happy Sunday to you!!   ;D  Today is Day 19 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

I think Sunday mornings are my favorite.  When I step outside the "people world" isn't too active and I get to listen to all of nature as the animals are all busy doing whatever it is they do.   :D  This morning I was out on the back step.  As I looked into the woods and saw all the hundreds of trees before me, some straight as an arrow, others twisting and curvy, the sun which is just making it's appearance is streaming thru the trees.  I love to see sunshine streaming thru the black trunks of trees.  ;D This morning I also heard Mr. Owl hooting away on the front part of our property.  Most mornings we see Mr. Owl as my son and I are waiting for the bus to come.  A couple weeks ago my hubby got an awesome picture of Mr. Owl.  He just sat there on the fence post as my hubby snapped away on his camera.  This morning I also heard some dogs barking in the distance.  Mr. Woodpecker was doing some drilling in a tree too.  I love the sounds and sights of nature (in case you couldn't already figure that out . .  :o).  There are two species of creatures I DO NOT like . . . snakes and spiders!  There are probably more, but those two come to mind right now.

Genko - what is it with Fridays and weather in Seattle??  Glad you stayed safe in the storms and went back home - it must have been a scary drive for you.  Kathyx - how nice that you had "cousin time".

I hope today is a great day for everyone filled with many blessings.   ;D   We're going to have another 70'ish degree day . . yay . . love it!!
