Problem with lungs...maybe??

Hi all,

I have been absent for ages and ages

My health has been stable, just life has been hectic. Raising 2 kids and having 2 step kids  I can sometime just  have my work cut out for me.

I have been having problems with feeling like someone is sitting on my chest and I can not breathe properly. It aches right between my breasts and if I push on it , its tender. I am having breathless moments too.

I saw my immunologist the end of June and he wants me to have some  lung tests.  He said that to listen to my lungs they sound clear.  Our medical waiting list and to get to see a good DR here in OZ can be challenging . I  live in a small country town.

My Immunologist wants me to have a lung function scan and then in Dec andother type of scan in his hospital which is in a major city. Now I can not get into see my Dr until mid August . So have no idea when I will get to have this lung test done.

Do many people out there have lung problems related to there SJS? My professor has put me on a asthma puffer to see if that helps. ATM it is not doing a thing

Welcome back. Yes, I have asthma and bronchiectasis as well as the SJS. I know that lung fibrosis can be related to SJS also.

One or two of the ladies on here have had costocondritis(sp). It's to do with the ribs, I think, and can be vey painful.

I hope you get a diagnosis and treatment soon.

Sorry to hear that you're having such a hard time at the moment.  I had similar issues last year but they didn't discover what the problem was - it seems to come and go. 

Have you had blood tests recently?  I was wondering whether your haemoglobin levels have been checked because sometimes when you're anaemic you feel breathless and your heart races.  Just a thought.

I never got an answer on my lung issues.  I had pleurisy twice and air hunger on and off forever.  It's worse when I flare and better when I don't.  I've been told "asthma," but I've realized that it was just a label b/c they didn't really know what was wrong.  I'm pretty convinced that I do not have asthma.

I have had costochondritis and it hurt just to touch my chest and take a breath.  It had nothing to do with my lungs.  Google it and see if it may fit your description.  I have also acid reflux that made my chest hurt.  I thought it was a flare I was having, but once I got the proper acid reflux medicine, it went away.  So it may be problems with your lungs, but it could be these other things, too.  Especially, if the inhaler is not helping.

I have just received my letter from my Professor after my last visit in June and he has also suggested that I need to get my iron levels tested. My haemoglobin is 108g/L with normal white cells and platelets.
My beta-2 microglobulin was 3.1 mg/L ( 0.8-2.2 )
No idea what it all means

Today I have woken up and not a pain at all! The last few days I have been in so much discomfort, I am amazed to have nothing.

I have had pleurosy and a clot on my lung. Having had a clot on my lung before I get worried that it also could return. I didn't have any pain tho with my clot.

I also suffer reflux and its not  that , the pains is higher up , directly in the middle of my chest and is like a throbbing pain.
