SLEEPY101

It's 4am cant sleep cuz of the pain. I have taken 3 hot baths and was trying to sleep with ice packs all over my body. That wasnt working they kept falling off. I wish I had a insulated ice pack body suit!! That sounds so soothing :D I missplaced my tigerbalm that does usually help. I hope my 4 kids sleep in tomorrow 8)
Does anyone have any pain relief tips they use at night? I am trying to not use so much percocet. I was supposed to go to a pain management clinic but it got delayed because my insurance change. I loved this site. What a wonderful place. I always feel better after stopping by here.

Oh I also wanted to ask this does heat trigger your pain? I know cold does but the last week it have been over 105 here and I know that has to do alot with my increasing pain.

I hear you loud and clear, I hate the pain, it just never seems to let up,, Lyrica, Neurotin, oxycodone,, all of them just never seem to get it under control, I refer to it now as my old friend,,

Depending on what's hurting the most. For all over body pains, not a lot you can do, the best I know is lots of SOFT pillows with upper body elevated using two / three pillows under head, full body pillow from shoulders down and pillows between knees or ankles. Sometimes I have to elevated the bottom half. I have redid my bed with extra padding and pillows. Try to find the right snuggly bedding, just to give sense of comfort. I also change my room colors every so often just to uplift my spirits some. And FOR GOD SAKE TRY TO KEEP THE ROOM NEAT AND CLEAN! (Something my husband makes hard to do).

I noticed pillows don't last as long as they may under normal circumstances.

Beside knock out meds. I don't know anything else.

It seems like something is always hurting and it seems to get worse at night.  I try to stay away from pain meds but I do take two darvacet at night time.  2 aleve in the morning.   I only take vicodin and percacet when I have surgery.
The trick I have for nightime comes from yoga deep relaxation and it usually works but it takes some time and patience.  First you get as comfortable in bed as you can.  I usually lie on my back and take some deep cleansing breaths.  Then I roll on my side and try to find a good spot.  Then I tell my toes and feet to relax, to  sink into the bed, and let my spirit float free. I go up though my ankles, heels, calves etc.  I tell all my tendons, bones, muscles, blood vessels etc to relax.   You go all the way up your body to the face, eyes, mouth, teeth, brain etc.  I know this sounds kind of weird.  But it works for me.   When I am really tired I only make it up to my heart, lungs, kidneys, spine and I am asleep.  There are other times when I do th full body  2 or 3 times before I am asleep.
I think it helps because you are concentrating all your effort on relaxing your body and not letting your mind wander.  It is really hard in the beginning,  but each time your mind wanders start back at your feet and toes.  Once you get the hang of it, you block the pain that you feel.
Let me know if you try this and it works for you.  I have been doing this for years  and I think it keeps my mind a little clear too, because I get the brain fog sometimes.

:D LOL... I LOVE your attitude!  My husband is a packrat, and I can NOT keep our room orderly. My side is at least, and I Do enjoy having a nice neat area to climb into my Sleep Number bed. My hubby INSISTED on that Sleep Number mattress, against my frugal wishes, and NOW, I am so glad. What a help. My daughter also got me a fabulous cushy fiberbed topper, on top of the wonderful mattress. No complaints about being as comfy as possible. I too use a ton of pillows, especially on a flare! The I need them between my knees, under my arms, etc. I also prop myself up on 3-4 pillows for reflux and very sore shoulders and arms. I still don;t sleep all that well.

Jules - I do that to get to sleep sometimes.  I start at the feet and try and imagine that they are so heavy they are going to sink through the mattress, and work my way upwards.  The last thing I have to do is stop my brain from thinking  ::)   So I imagine that all I can see is dark, dark sky with no stars and no sounds.  Often works well for me.  xx

Iris,
Believe me I don't knock doing whatever it takes to relieve pain, but sometimes I hurt so bad the last thing I want to do is COHERENTLY THINK about ANYTHING! After days & nights  of nagging pains and fatigue I am too miserable to lay still in one position that long anyway. However I do often hum a lullaby of moans and groans, I find that works because I wake realizing that's the the last thought before passing out. I really don't consider it sleeping, sometimes I just past out from weariness! I notice that lullaby comes to mind the first movement of the day too, sometimes just can't get that nagging song out ma mind! OOOH!  AH! OH LOOOORD!, Ah! I'm so tired! Hummmm! (Continue to repeat verse in order that works for ya!).   ;D :o ::) ;D

Peace & Be Blessed!
