Hi,  does anyone have any suggestions for the sores on your tongue??  Also, I accidentally stabbed myself in the mouth with a toothbrush (LOL) and now have a big, swollen part that won't heal.  My dr told me about orabase to numb it, but is there anything I can do to heal it??  Also, the orabase only worked for about 10 minutes, then that spot was SOOOOO dry that it hurt worse!!  Is baby oragel any better??

Hi  :)

I've always found a salty mouthwash helps to heal bits in the mouth. 1/4 teaspoon salt on a glass of lukewarm (pre-boiled) water. Swill it around and spit it out. Doesn't taste great but does seem to help.

Take care - Scottie  :)

You might try a mouth wash with a peroxide base.  Cologate makes ones that I find quite useful in healing a sore mouth.  It's called Peroxyl or there is always Gly-oxide.  The Gly-oxide is drops you put on your tongue then swish around in your mouth for a few minutes.

As with either, just swish and spit, don't swallow them.  Both of these are great for healing mouth sores. The taste isn't all that bad, and they DO WORK.

Thank you both so much!!  I'm going to try both methods - hopefully I'll get some relief!!

Yeah, I too get those painful mini-sores on my tongue a lot, and I too use a peroxide based mouth wash to help heal them up a bit before the next round strikes (warm salt water also helps too).

My rheumy suggested swishing some Pepto Bismol a couple of times daily. She said bismuth helps the sores heal.

Patze, somewhere along lifes highways and old wives tales,( I also have these little things and they) were referred to as "lying pimples" while I was growing up.  lol  Anyone else hear that about "lying pimples?"  Lucy

Patze

Hi Lucy,

Lying pimples?  I've not heard of that one, but it's a good one!  :D

Hi,  I am a great believer in the salt water in warm water - hope it helps

Hi have this problem a lot. My rheumy gave me a good solution that seems to help clear them up more quickly than anything else. Glcyerin and water. Equal parts of each in a 8 oz container. Swish like mouthwash up to 4 times a day until the mouth feels better. Good luck.

Eye,

Yes! We used to say that when I was a child! But it was if you bit your tongue or the inside of your cheeks, the kids would cry that you must have told a lie!

But keep in mind I'm from the south so things seem to change or get somewhat distorted around here! Oh! But wait a minute most of these old wife's tales usually start here, don't they?

Bernice

Patze

Hi Bernice,

That be true!  ;) :D  Them ol' wife's tales are pretty interesting, aren't they?  Got to love the south (I do)! ;D

I went from over a dozen mouth and tongue sore with Candida as well so bad I could barely eat and ;was talking real funny ;to cleared of all in 4 days. Two days for marked improvement. My holistics work very well.  I cured fungal lung infection 8-10 times with my treatment when (And after) the doctors best failed.  Truth is I'm tired of their ,"Try this." attitude. And by the time you finally get them to test (Even when I had H1N1)  you been suffering and not getting better long enough.  You've got this for life. My advice; study formal and holistics.  You are not likely to find a doctor who knows both.  Why do you think they warn people away from herbs; they know so little about them and their cross reactions.     I have the books and know the web sites. I've given same to some good open minded doctors.  Several Make sure to write down ones I use do to my drug sensitivities, to help others who have adverse drug reactions.     It shows they truly want to help there patience.  They are few, wonderful people, that I'm glad I know..  To me respect is earned. Not hanging on a plaque on the wall.

Eye,

Now I do recall "Lie Bumps"! Boy, that was one thing that sure could cause a fight, nobody ever wanted it said they were a liar and to have the proof in your very mouth! ::) ::)

Yeah! I think I had one once as a child and had that told to me. It seems you always forgot and absent mindly said Boy my mouth hurt and show it off to some quick thinking person, only to have somebody yell "Ya must have told a lie!" then the fight or eye rolling begain.

In the South calling somebody a liar is among the most wickest insults, it was like calling them a theif!

Every true southerner has heard this "If you'll lie, you'll steal, if you'll steal you'll kill" Shoot I grew up thinking that was written out just like that in the bible!

Hi Voiceteacher,   tell me about mouth troubles!!

I'm with the salt water treatment on this matter tho'..

For years now I have had sore patches and mouth ulcers, and finally found the salt worked best,

However I still swear by drinking cold pure pineapple juice too, this really helps .

Keep off all the sweet foods until the mouth has healed..

I have had a rough time with my mouth of late, days when the  dentures just wont go in due to some swelling,

as the least bit tough eating can bring about some mouth trouble with me..

I have had trouble sleeping due to the extreme dyness,

Just yesterday the Doctor has given me a different mouth gel and some Salivix pastillles to try,
but have been unable to get them until Monday coming .

Am not expecting any miracles tho'  think I could do with a fairy godmother !
                                                                    Good Luck, Dolly
