Dry eyes, but excessive saliva?

Does anyone have alot of saliva, yet still a real diagnosis of SJS?

I'll bet the answer is yes.  But, for me the saliva was the last thing to go.  I was diagnosed two years ago and had dry eyes many years before that.  The dry mouth is very bad now, but didn't really start until about the time of diagnosis.

Having lack of saliva or dry mouth can come in all stages. Some people who do have sjogrens don't complain of dry eyes or mouth....sometimes it might not feel dry until a later date....or it goes up and down with the level of dryness depending on your body....and sometimes as in my case...I didn't even realize how dry my mouth was.....I just thought I was thirsty and it became the "normal" for me.

Sjogrens affects us all so differently...there is just no way to come up with a true pattern that we all fit in....I hope you get some answers soon!  Like I said before...being in limbo land is no fun...hang in there!

Neuro actually also told me today that ,,,,,,and again, I quote."being in limbo is a good thing!"

So, yea, I have dry eyes, to the point of inflammation, but, I have an awful lot of saliva, to the point of almost drooling if I dont keep my mouth shut! LOL. I dont know.........

Hi Cathy,

I don't have the SJS label, but I'm still being treated for SJS.  My eyes are terrible, but my mouth is sometimes good, sometimes not so good; it comes and goes.

Hang in there and I hope that you always have a "moist" mouth!

Cathy, Mouth feels dry and lips feel dry but still have saliva production and the dentist said on last two visits that my production is still good.  Have formal diagnosis from throat surgeon and rheumy. Roxanne

I have very dry eyes, but produce plenty of saliva.  Sometimes I feel like I'm going to drool.  I was diagnosed with a positive ANA and Anti Ro of 400 something.  No lip biopsy has been done.  I have a lot of fatigue and neurological symptoms.  I always kind of worried about the fact that I had plenty of saliva and it sort of freaked me out when I started the (almost) drooling thing.  I have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.  I guess I still question the whole diagnosis, but what are you going to do???

I noticed a difference in how dry my mouth is with what I am drinking. Water, sugar water or corn syrup water. While all are dry the last is driest.

Both my eyes and mouth went through stages of overproduction for want of a better word, I would be telling my doc I had a dry moth whilst trying not to drool! Eventually as the dryness really settled in the periods of overproduction stopped.
