Bacterial Infection? Yeast?

Hi evryone hope things are ok with all of you. I have a problem that I can't seem to figure out. I've been plagued with what seems like bladder infections for the last couple of years, from the fall of 2007 to the fall of 2008 I was either at the ER or my dr's office every 1-2 months. I was on several different antibiotics. Accompanying the bruning I got really sick, nausea, head ache, stomach upset so I couldn't eat and vomiting if I tried.
Sometime when i would go in there would be an infection when they did a dip test other times it was negative but there were lucosites (sp?) raised white count and blood.

It wasn't til I went o a urologist finally, he did a scope and saw irritation, reddening in the bladder and the procedure was quite painful. He ended up putting me on a low dose long-term antibiotic and voila I didn't have another from Oct 2008 til now.
I went to my dr today and the dip test was negative but the urine was to be sent away???? I am supposed to hear back tomorrow morning. Can anybody give me any idea of what's happening here? If it is an infection where would it be coming from and why now? Can a bacterial infection just live in the body longterm until it gets really bad, bad enough to make one notice that "now" there is a problem?

I do have a problem anymore it seems with my mouth, burning or infalmation of the tissue, a sour taste if I eat even the tinyest bit of sugar even in fruit,. I have started to use biotene products and they have helped. I saw my dentist the other day and my hygenist and him were very happy with my dental hygine program so I had a good report so it can't be that.
Can someone tell me about candida/yeast? Could that be what it is? And what would change with my body in the last couple years that could all of a sudden cause a yeast issue?

This is driving me crazy, feeling not so good most of the time and then really yucky some of the time and my body is trying to tell me there is an infection but it seems like the doctor never catches it or is just not thorough enough to catch it.
Is there anything i can do myself to check for an infection or yeast on my own? (over the counter tests or something  ???)
Thanks a bunch for any suggestions.Just so aggrivating.  :-[

Hi Sandra.......I had the same problem for years.  The antibiotics are the culprit normally and mess up the balance of good  and bad flora.  The best product I have found is at the health food store.  The product is made by Blue Bonnet and has to be refrigerated.  It is called Milk-Free Acidophilus Plus FOS.  It will get the body back in balance.  I would start taking one three times a day with a meal and increase to two three times a day until you are getting some relief and you can increase it accordingly. It will not harm you but the yeast can really cause havoc.  I had a bacterial infection for a long long time.  I also experienced a lot of dryness (actual small amounts of blood only seen under the microscope) down there which I always attributed to menopause and not taking estrogen but I think now it is probably this Sjogrens saga.  I think you will get great results from this product.  Hope it helps!

Sandra...I was blabbering so much I forgot to answer one of your questions.  You can buy the same dip sticks that they use in the doctors office.  You can do a search and there are a lot of labs that sell them.  They are a little pricey but you can do the same test that they charge anywhere from 15-50 dollars at your doctors office.  You just need some sterile cups along with the sticks.
