Do your symptoms wax and wane?

Hi,

I am not formally diagnosed, though there is a suspicion I have sjogren's.  I am due to have the blood tests next week...

I just wondered if the symptoms for those of you who are formally diagnosed change from day to day.  For instance, yesterday I had a really uncomfortable quite dry mouth yesterday and I ended up using loads of my saliva substitute.  Today I don't have much of a dry mouth at all, and have only used it twice - and I can definately feel saliva being produced under my tongue today... My thiniking is that if the saliva glands are damaged surely they just produce less every day and can't vary?

My main worry is because I was the one that found and suggested sjogren's that maybe I'll end up looking a fool! (I suppose that doesn't matter, but I would prefer not to!!)

Thanks for your help for this comparatively small issue... I am not very good at being in limbo...

Sjogren's for me is like Ohio weather, always changing, couple of days with sore hands and feet then it's shoulders, knees and thumbs. I also find that my dryness changes from day to day, but the dryness has improved with Evoxac.

Hi Leah 

I find that symptoms come and go. My eyes are not as dry as they were but I'm still pretty conscious of them every day and I wake up with a dry mouth every morning but it varies in day time dryness.

It's aches and pains that come and go with me. Something in my neck seems to flare up, hurt like heck and then go away for a few weeks. It's all pretty unpredictable.

Absolutely, they come and go.  My rheumy confirmed for me that this is a common ocurrance.

Yes!  And during the "diagnosis period" it's very confusing and even frustrating!

Once you know you have Sjogren's, everyone prays for the waning days!

I have symptoms that come and go and vary in intensity from day to day or even from hour to hour at times. Its impossible to explain to others, but its true that it does happen this way. Then a brand new symptom will pop up out of the clear blue every now and then....it keeps me on my toes....I guess that's why I have to take it one day at a time!

Hi Guys

Than you all for your replies!  It does seem silly that I am almost hoping that I am told I have sjogren's, I suppose because the alternative is difficult patient/hypochondriac.  I know I would be devastated if I found I did have sjogren's too.  I know that those of you who are diagnosed and suffering so much more than me (I am def in early stages if I have it at all)and you all wish for those days that I am moaning about!! Human emotions are so fickle sometimes aren't they?

I felt sooo poorly yesterday, I was sure I had a cold, I felt so uncomfortable inside my throat and the bit between the nose and throat.  But today I have woken up feeling pretty well again...
