that I am going to be asked to speak in front of some of my hospital peers about Sjogrens and how it has personally influenced my life and the impact of needing a kidney transplant.

Part of me will be excited...part of me frightened to letting myself be vulnerable to my peers.  I think it will be a kick off to a fundraiser a friend of mine at work is holding for me to help raise money for uncovered medical expenses.  She is going to shave her head if we raise more than $2,000.   :o

I want to raise awareness at my hospital about Sjogrens!!!  You'd be surprised how many have never heard of this in the medical field....oh wait.....you all KNOW that already!

Take Care!

Vicky,
You are the perfect choice as a speaker.  Who else can tell your story (and ours) as well?   You have proven to be tough and strong.   In comparison to what you've been through health-wise, one public speaking gig will be a breeze.   Your colleagues will gain so much understanding of this disorder!  We'll all be there with you in spirit!   Please keep us informed!

Hi Vicky,

I can understand your fear of being vulnerable in front of people you work with, but think of how much information and knowledge from personal experience that you will spread among your peers at work. I think its wonderful (although I'm not the one getting up to speak...lol) and you will be great! Just be yourself and tell your story.

Please let us know how it goes if you are chosen to speak and if you decide to do it.....either way....you will be an inspiration to others.....and give that wonderful friend of yours a big hug...how nice of her to help organize this fundraiser for your unpaid bills!

Hugs to you.....

Thanks, I am definitely going to do it if asked.  A million things were going through my head about what to say.  I am not nervous about public speaking .....done this many times!    ;D   Nervous about sharing "MY' story with people that are my peers and really don't know much about me.  Of course, it is easier on here to share things with you all.  I am so grateful for having all of you in my life as my major support belt.

Thanks!
Vicky

Hi Vicky

That's great news.  What a compliment to you!  You're bound to be nervous but, as you say, you're experienced in public speaking and in addition you're passionate about your subject.  Plus you've got lots of personal experience and wisdom to draw on.

It's hard to know how to describe a condition that changes all the time:  'the gift that keeps on giving' as Pooh likes to describe it.

You'll be brilliant and we're all here cheering you on.
