Hi Debbie,

I'm glad to hear that you will be "good as new" again after you fight off this nasty infection. Thanks for letting us know how you are doing and remember to take good care of yourself!

Debbie, It is not unusual to have infections in our salivary glands. I am assuming you are talking about the parotid gland? It does help to put heat on the area, massage gently after sucking on a lemon drop. Sounds terrible, but they do help stimulate some saliva so that the salivary duct can get washed out. Also, be aware that sometimes one can get a salivary stone in a duct and this can hurt horribly bad and get infected, red, hot, etc.

We just have to keep out fluid intake up and make sure to suck on something that will make us pucker so that we have a little saliva now and then. Are you on salogen to stimulate your saliva? Ask your doc about it as it really does help.

Also, if your doc said to quit the Enbrel then you should, but I would call her anyway cause she needs to know about the infection. Make sure to keep track of the infection and if you aren't feeling better need to get rechecked to see if the infection is spreading. Good luck. Irish ;D
