Hi all

Many, many thanks for your get well wishes - I'm sure I could feel them coming through cyberspace - they are truly appreciated.  First day on my laptop today but need to be brief as still absolutely exhausted with it all.

Found a painkiller that helps with the nerve pain of it, doesn't kill it all but takes the edge off.  I can today just about open my eye, and praise the Lord My vision doesn't seem to have been affected.  The ones in my mouth have gone down but haven't eaten properly as can't face food so just trying to have light nutritious soups and milky rice puddings.  The sores in my scalp have been agony, and my face on the left side is still angry looking but seems to be drying a little.  The pains that wake me up during the night are the worse.

My hubby has been my lifeline, he's worked from home so he's given me my bed-baths, all my creams and potions and medicines, fed me when I couldn't see the dish, and massaged my feet to try to give me a little relief.  He wanted me to go into hospital on Wednseday but I just couldn't face it - I needed the peace, quiet and comfort of my own home, plus I know I wouldn't have got the care in hospital that I have had at home.  The thought of begging nurses to take me to teh bathroom or painkiller medicines was unbearable.  I'm back at the clinic tomorrow for a check up, just not sure how I'm going to get from the car to the clinic as still so unsteady of my feet and woozy, I'm sure they must have a chair we can borrow.

Again many thanks for your kind words, it so is appreciated at times like this.

Hi Wrn

Good to see you back. Did you have any problems getting to the hospital with the snow? I hope the snow melts before your appointment tomorrow.

Just read this and wanted to reply.  My father-in-law (78 years old) has shingles starting in March 2008.  It was excuriating pain for him too.  He also had shingles on his head and behind one ear.  He has taken different medications and has found the combination that helps dull the pain enough.  He still has pain, but is much, much better than he was months ago.  One thing that did help him was he had accupuncture.  That apparently helped quite abit.  Anyway, just wanted to pass the accupuncture thing along.  May be worth a try.

Hi Wen

I'm really sorry to hear you've been so ill. That's great that your husband has been so supportive. He sounds like a lovely man.

I hope you've turned the corner and start feeling a bit better soon.

Take care - Scottie  :)
