Hey everyone!  I tried to buy a few books from Sjogrens Syndrome; however, I got a letter saying they were no longer available.  Does anyone have either of these two books they would be willing to sell or lend?

1.  You Don't Look Sick

2.  A Delicate Balance:  Living Successfully with Chronic Ilness.

Of course, I forgot to write down who the writers are.

Please let me know.  I'd be very grateful.  In the mean time, I'll try Amazon and ebay.

I don't have that one but one that is just as good or better.  It's called Positive Options for Sjogren's Syndrome, by Sue Dyson.  It's a self-help book with treatment options, their benefits and side effects.

It deals with the dry eyes and mouth, the joint and muscle pain, fatigue and depression.  It's very informative and easy to read.

However, I still feel that "A Body Out of Balance" by Ruth Fremes is the best I have ever read.

Hi Ctrteresa,

I found them through local book stores and I ordered a couple through a local store.  I also found the "A Body Out of Balance" is a terrifically written book, but I also enjoyed "You Don't Look Sick", and "A Delicate Balance:  Living Successfully with Chronic Illness."  Have you tried a mega book store (like Barnes & Nobel/Borders) yet?  Amazon is also another great resource for the hard to find books.

Take care -

Thanks for the tips.  I haven't even tried yet.  I never heard of any of the books until I found the SSF website.  I ordered the two I mentioned and a couple of other things.  They only had the other things in stock.  I ended up getting "The Balance Within: The Science of Connecting Health and Emotions" and a CD of the talk by Dr. Sternberg from the meeting April 20-21, 2007.  As I listened to the CD, I was totally blown away.  It was like she was talking directly to me.  Sternberg is the one that wrote "The Balance Within" if you weren't aware of that.

It didn't really occur to me to check "normal" places for the books, because they're so specialized.  However, I'm sure they're not just dealing with SjS, but all types of chronic illness.  I've never heard of "A Body Out of Balance."  I'll have to look for that.  Fortunately, I'm a card carrying member of Barnes & Nobel and Books a Million.  I spend way too much money every month on books.  Looks like I'll have to check out the B&N website for starters.  Can't wait to use my 20% off coupon.  Now, if I can only remember where I put the thing.

I plead QUILTY!  I too spend way to much on books.  I have a lot of catching up to do.  Since I had the plugs put in and using the Restasis, I can read again.  It's a wonderful thing.

Bucky, I love our library, but when I read a good book, I don't want to part with it.  I even have a hard time lending them to my best friend. ;D

G'day all.  I found all the books mentioned on Amazon.com.  Both new and used. Hope this helps

Hi Bucky,

Like Pooh, I don't want to part with them at all! :D  When I'm up at 2 AM, I often will pull a book out and read, helps the night pass.
