This is a very important topic and newbies should take care to read it.  Kim explains it very well, as have many of the other great contributors to the board.

Since we're old enough to listen, we're told "use this to boost your system, you need such-n-such to boost your immune system."   Well, finally after being dx with Sjogrens two years ago and watching, reading and listening...I know "we" don't need to boost our system, or anything else.  Well, maybe......but......everyone else wants to boost us.................

Finally, I've said to my family and a few friends,  "I'm boosted too much and all the pills I take are to bring down the boost.  I do not need things that "give my system a boost, thank you."   Lucy

Thanks Lucy!

I also wanted to add that the Ensure I do drink I asked approval of my rheumy beforehand when my appetite was getting wonky if it was OK to use those since my appetite was on the down and out.He gave his approval.

If you add/subtract anything to your diet due to medical/appetite issues please tell your Dr...often a "bad" feeling/loss of appetite/weight is the first sign of your body trying to give you a heads up that something is not "right" and should be reported to your Dr.

They would much rather be told up front and give approval/denial than find out at your monthly/bimonthly checkups that you decided to drop/add anything on your own.Whether it be vitamins, supplements, diets for weight loss/gain,exercise program start, or any significant change in your daily routine.Again I am not talking about a one time deal....I mean something that you plan to add into your daily routine and do on a regular/daily basis.

Don't ever feel bad about asking...they would rather know up front and OK or nix it then find out after it causes severe health issues that they have to address and fix.

Good luck to all

Kim
