Hi all,

That is no typo!  I went for my kidney transplant evaluation yesterday.  I saw Dr. Millgillacuddy. (seriously, that is his name).  I think it went well and I will know if I am " officially"  placed on the transplant list in the next couple of weeks.  I started a series of posts on the whole day meeting with the transplant team if anyone is interested on my blog www.sjogrensandme.blogspot.com .

I asked him if they ever had transplanted someone with Sjogrens.  He said not that he knows of, but they have with other autoimmune diseases like Lupus. (he named a few others too)  It was a good visit.

I am exhausted.....just got back from vacation too.  I did get a bit of Reynaulds one day, but it went away fairly fast!

Take CAre!

So vicky,

Im figuring you have less fluid in you than normal after all those vials of blood were taken. My goodness they are greedy at the blood bank. I hope it all turns out well and you get on that list soon. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm glad you had a good time on your holiday as well. Its always good to get away

Hi Vicky  :)

Wow - I thought six vials of blood at one go was quite a lot!  I hope you hear soon about a transplant. The waiting must be really stressful.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hi Vicky!

What an ordeal. Must be the vampires coming out of the woodwork with Halloween approaching! Gee - Halloween makes me think of Candy candy candy candy......

:o Vampires!!!!  Definitely.  I told them they were 10 days early on Halloween.  I did have a good vampire!

Good lucky, Vicky.  You must have been pretty low on the blood dipstick after 21 vials!!  I've had 12 vials taken two different times, but 21 has got to be a record.  I hope that's all they need.  Lucy

Victoria, That is a lot of blood. To put it in perspective though, the little tubes usually hold 2-3 cc's and the larger tubes hold 5 cc's and then there are some tubes that are larger and hold probably 7.5 cc's. It may be that with your type of condition they do testing that requires larger amounts of blood in a tube.

When we have the blood drawn it looks like so much but remember that one drop of blood can really turn a quart of water red. If you take 21 tubes times 5cc's it amounts to 105 cc's(if my math is right) which is just short a half cup. I think I have all the math right on this. Sort of boggles the mind doesn't it. Interestingly enough when doctors chart amount of blood lost during delivery they usually figure 250 cc's which is just over a cup. If I do have this wrong maybe one of the other nurses on this site will help me out.

When I worked OB that one always blew my mind. Blood does go a long way though. I am wishing you all good luck and sending prayers your way for this to be over with as soon as possible. Irish ;D
