Hey every one,

Just recently I have been having small bruises here and there. I don't recall any bumping into anything. Their even in odd place, very small quarter size like on my inside forearm or upper arm, on my thighs.
What makes them seem odd to me, is that I have never bruised easily.
I've quit taking my daily low dose aspirin because of this occurrence.

What would cause this?

Hi Kimbo  :)

I used to get unexplained bruising.I used my cell phone to take photos of the bruises in case they went before I saw a doctor. My GP referred me to a haematologist who found nothing wrong and told me to tell my rheumy about them. He said that photos were a good idea. He then told me not to take any more NSAIDs  :( (they worked best) and I have to admit I've had less bruising since then.

I'd check with your doc though.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Thanks Scottie,

I have taken Celebrex once a day for over 4 years, is that an NSAIDs ?

Hi Kimbo  :)

I'm not familiar with celebrex but I 'googled' it and it is an NSAID. You've been on it for a long time without bruising though. I'd consult your doc before stopping or starting anything.

I was on Naproxen - and miss it. I was told to use Codiene and Paracetamol as a replacement but I can't do codiene - it depresses me. Now I'm on Tramadol and Paracetamol but I miss the Naproxen, which I think was more effective.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Try increasing your vitamin C intake. If you smoke, this may also cause it.

Thanks again Scottie,

Celebrex has worked well for me.
I can't take codeine either, it revs me up and makes my skin crawl.
After I go to my optho appt , I will start on plaquenal for the 1st time. And I am thinking maybe that will help my need for celebrex, maybe it will be ok to quit it.
Gradually of course.

Hey Joe,

I will try the vitamin C. I was taking vitamin C when they were choking me as I tried to swallow it every morning so I ixsnayed it. I take a multi , a D , a B complex, and an omega 3 every day. I would throw all of them at once in with the vitamin c also; swallow my water and the vitamin C just rebelled every time. A nasty mess
when I hacked it back up. LOL
I try to drink my orange juice too.
I don't smoke.

Thank you all again ,  kimbo

I use nsaids a lot. An article on them suggested that additional vitamin C should be taken to manage siide effects like this and stomach problems.

Hi  :)

Taking a proton pump inhibitor can also help for stomach problems.
