Red palms and soles of feet

Hi everyone,

I am new to SJS and was dxd with MS in  1999.  I saw my neurologist yesterday for my 6 month visit and he again suggested that I may have SJS and not MS.  I have an apt with a rheumy next month.  I had a lip biopsy and the ENT didn't get what was needed for a difinitive dx so I am left with a numb lip and inconclusive results.  This is just a little background in case it helps.

Anyway while I was talking to my neuro I mentioned my hands and feet.  My hands ache and are stiff.  Today my arm between the elbow and hand also hurts.  I showed him how my palms are extremely red and when I clinch them, they turn white and splotchy.  My feet do the same thing.  Both of these symptoms come and go.  I have reached the point that I don't feel like I have the dexterity to do my own weekly injection of Avonex (for MS) and want my husband trained so he can take it over.  When I mentioned this to my neuro, he said that I should tell the rheumy when I see her and nothing else.  I assume that this is not typical of MS but is to SJS.  Does anyone have this or know anything else about this?

I have other body aches, none of which are constant.  It changes sometimes minute to minute but always day to day.  I'll save these for another day.

Thanks,

Debi

Hi Debi,
I do hope you find that you don't have MS, however, I wish it wasn't SJS they think you might have.

The redness on your hands and feet sounds painful, but I'm afraid I don't know what to tell about it.  Perhaps one of members will have an answer.

Please let us know when you see the rheumy and what the outcome is.

Hugs, Pooh

Hi Debi  :)

Welcome to Sjogren's world.  :)

I too, hope you don't have MS. I know that MS and SjS do sometimes get confused. It has happened to others.

I'm afraid I also don't know what to say about the red hands and feet. I assume you've had fairly extensive bloodtests and liver function tests and stuff? I'm glad the wait to see your rheumy isn't TOO long and I hope they're helpful. I think that the time waiting around for initial appontments and test results can really get a person down. If you need to vent - vent in here - that's fine!

Take care - Scottie  :)
