TRAVEL INSURANCE

Hi All
I have just taken out a yearly travel policy and rang round loads of insurers before I chose one. I thought others (at least in the UK) might want to know that they class SJS as very low risk - little do they know!
My experience is as far as SJS is concerned is be totally upfront, it adds nothing to the premium and you never know.
My sons Allergic reaction to lentils, that is another story, that cost me an extra £70.

I took travel insurance out online before visiting my son in the US. Unfortunately as well as putting SjS down there were a few other things as well. Some insurance firms wanted to charge more than 3 times as much as normal insurance but I eventually found a group called Travebility and they were excellent.

Is that Travel Insurance only if you are traveling overseas? As much as I travel, (almost every week), I haven't heard of it. We are going to Boston next week and with all these new luggage rules it really posts a problem. First of all for the eyes: restasis, eye drops, eye ointment, tranquil eyes etc,  For the nose: netti pot, salt solutions, rx etc. For the mouth: biotene toothpaste, biotene mouth wash, flouride toothpaste, and rinse, floss etc., sucky things- Any way you get the picture.  I have probably only remembered half of it Heaven forbid if we try to carry this on as it might have more than 3oz of fluid. Then we must only take one bag under 50 lbs so we have to fit all this stuff along with our makeup, toiletries and maybe we should pack clothes and shoes. We will  only be gone 10 days this trip but sometimes we are gone for weeks. And then my husband who is a professional golfer and is going to play a tournament and then a charity event gets to choose what he wants for his one bag: golf clubs or clothes. Some airlines charge for the first bag even.  What has this to do with Sjorgrens? Only that our day to day practical treatment keeps getting more complicated. I must remember to have a happy spirit and to be greatful for all these tools to help make us more comfortable.

Hi 

I was paying for health insurance for a country that the NHS wasn't going to cover me in. I think it covered lost bags as well. I got into bother for having make-up/fluids in a see though bag with a tie top. I was told in Chicago that it HAD to be a ZIPLOCK bag. They took pity on me and gave me one. Anything I wasn't going to need on the plane I put in my checked in bag. It got lost for a day on the way home but things were OK.

The travel insurance was EU only. I can't handle the long flights anymore.
I too feel like a mobile drug store (chemist) with all my pills and potions.
Too late it dawned on me that I should have got the details of my fragrance allergy in writting in-case a 'smelly' person sat near me, so I could make them move me without fuss, as it turned out I was lucky on both flights.
I am one of life's planners but SJS makes so many small demands that can become big problems if you forget something that it catches me out sometimes.

I totally agree. I too, and a good planner but it seems everyday I find something else I need and as you say, it really messes us up if we forget one thing.
Life is great isn't it?
