I  was   diagnosed  with  Sjogrens about 12 years  ago.  I was put on plaquenil and have been  on it ever since.  My eyes have  been checked regularly by ophthalmologist and retina specialist  and everything was fine, until  March, when  I was diagnosed with toxicity in retina of right  eye.  I  stopped  immediately and  will get checked again   next week to see if the damaged has increased or has it damaged by left  eye,  too.
Now, my concern is what else has plaquenil damaged?
I'm now going through heart testing, have kidney issues, and other stuff.
Now, I'm not on any medication for Sjogrens since I have reacted badly to 2 others:methatrexate and possibly Avara.
My warning : if you're on Plaquenil, get off it !

So sorry to hear about your eye problem, and I hope your other tests will be OK.

I decided not to ever go on it, and this was lucky because I was later diagnosed with macular degeneration.

However, plenty of members here find it helpful, and no doubt they all weigh up the benefits and risks before they take it.

All the best.
