Hi, not sure where to post but I just need to post somewhere! I am 42 with two beautiful children age 4 yrs and 6 months. I went in for my first ever mammogram and tech said everything was fine will get card in mail. I was checking the portal for the official results and I'm being recalled for a prominent left axillary lymph node no other abnormalities. Ordering diagnostic mammo and sono. I have no pain, no lumps. I sent a message to my doctor last night when I read the report and am waiting. My grandmother had breast cancer and was treated with mastectomy. I am not breastfeeding and pumped for about 2 months. I had a tooth extracted and dental implant put in and was swollen in my jaw when I got the mammo but that was on my right side. Also my period had just started day of mammo. I am scared since it's a single enlarged node

As difficult as it is to do, try to relax and wait until you have more to go on. With no supporting indications, and a few recent medical issues, it could be anything! The family history is bound to give you concern, but for now, try to focus on your beautiful family, as I'm sure you are anyway, and do what ever you do to keep yourself in a positive frame of mind.

Remember we are very good listeners here! And with our numbers, varied experiences and spread all over the world so exposure to a ton of different medical protocols, I'm sure someone will show up soon with much more encouraging words!

I am also gong to tell you to take a deep breath. I have had mammograms every year or two for many years as I have very lumpy breasts. I have had about 4 episodes where I have received phone calls asking me to come back when I am walking thru the door to my home. One time they had me come back right away.

They usually do another mammogram of some kind plus the ultrasound etc. This is standard procedure for anything that is what they consider out of the ordinary. Much of the time it is nothing to worry about. I learned to not get myself in a panic attack. Better they err on the side of nothing to worry about than to miss something.

The thing is....if, for any of us, something shows up we just have to go through the process of biopsy, etc. There is nothing we can do that will change that. If, per chance, it does show something at biopsy then we take a deep breath, shed tears and do what we have to do to get things taken care of.

So many women get the scare and call to come back. We have to think positive until we are told that we have reason to go ballistic. Don't go through emotional stress and lose precious energy until you have to. Know having to go back is very common. Good luck and Peace. meirish

Hi  :)

Waiting for test results is just the worst!

I hope your recall shows nothing to worry about, however if there is something - they;ve found it and can del with it, which surely is the point of having mammograms in the first place.

I got recalls for a couple of smear tests in the past and both resulted in normal but I know I worried beforehand.

I also had a'lump' investigated and like Irish it turns out I just have naturally lumpy breast material.

Hope you get answers soon. Take care - Scottie  :)
