Too much salt in tear film

Last week I had a 'second opinion' at Sjogren's Expertise Centre. My labs and biopsy were already negative, this time it was backed up by an ultrasound of my glands. They looked pristine, so definitely no Sjogren's !

Test number 2 showed a big surprise. A small device measured  the salt content of my eye moisture. "Your osmolarity is way too high," the nurse said. This explains the burning, pain and dryness I've been battling for so long.

Until then I'd never heard of this test - nor been aware salt content in eye moisture could be too high.

My immediate thought was: "But my blood sodium is within range?!"... According to the ophthalmologist the 2 are usually not related.

The 'Tearlab Osmolarity System'  has been in use in the US for approx. 10 years already, so I've learned on other forums.

Has anyone else done this test?

What can be done to decrease the salt content??
