Sorry about the topic, I know it's gross.... But, I think mosts of the time, I can't/don't sweat and therefore I overheat easily. I figured it was part of my disease but I've been this way for a long time.

However, today, I was cleaning outside and broke into a great sweat and cooled down!!!!!!! It felt so good for my body to work like it was supposed to. Usually, I just overheat and am miserable. I am wondering what brought about this change and if it will stay. I've been taking some vitamins and supplements recently. I hope it lasts because I live in the south and just can't take the heat/sun.

Anybody have any thoughts about this? I am sure our sweating mechanism also involves a few of our bodily systems including the nervous system. I started taking a choline supplement and wondered if maybe this was it??

Funny, last week I sweated for the first time in ages. I had sweat pouring out all over, my trunk, palms, feet everywhere. Yes, gross, but glorious at the same time. I came home and took a shower and felt like a new woman.

Deb 27, I don't have any normal sweat now.  I also don't go outside except to transfer to the car, when it is very hot.

I did have, however, horrible episodes of suddenly sweating from my head only.  I would be sitting still, and suddenly sweat was running down my face, and dripping from the ends of my hair.

The period of sudden sweating from my head occurred from 2005 to about 2012.  Then it stopped.

I assumed it was related to temperature dysregulation which often accompanies immune disorders.  However, I really don't know why I had it.

It did NOT cool me off, however.

I suppose the really interesting information will come if you have normal sweating on an on-going basis.

I also think that my lack of perspiration may be related in part to my age.  I'm 76.

Less sweating in the elderly may make them more vulnerable to very hot weather, without AC.  I don't know.

I sweat terrible and I haven't figured out if it is good or bad. I started sweating a lot when I was a senior in high school. I have always been overly hot when working at my job or at home but it got worse over the years. When I was young and working as a nurse I seat so bad that my whole uniform and underclothes were drenched and it was miserable sitting in the unconditioned car driving home 20 miles.

The sweating is weird. When I sit around I am pretty good but I do have to have air conditioning on more than other people When I get up to do the dishes or any little chore I am drenched and often have water running out of my head and behind my ears..off my nose. It takes me a long time to cool down. It is like my body think I am running a marathon.

Now, for those of you who don't sweat. I get it as it can be life threatening to not have the cooling effects of sweat. Back in the 80's I was nursing at a job that kept their buildings so darn warm that I would feel like I was going to pass out. I finally got the idea to wet a washcloth and place it on my neck. This saved my life. My uniform got a little wet but as it evaporated it helped cool more. It wasn't long til most of the staff on my wing were using the old wet washcloth routine also. I think I need to do that again.

I think this sweating thing is related to autoimmune and the autonomic system but darned if anyone has an idea how to fix it. Good luck to all. Irish
