I had to go to the clinic today for some paper work, and found out I had  high blood pressure. The nurse practioner said I was in a lupus flare just seeing how bad the red rash across my face is.

She told me I need to get an earlier appointment with my rhuemy than May.

She also took some blood work.

Glad I made it in. My face red rash typical of lupus has been bothering me worse than usual.

Due to the sjogren's I think I am dehydrated.

Thank you for posting. My journey with Sjogrens started with a red moth on my face.  I thought I had Lupus but I did not test positive for it. Maybe it is part of Sjogrens since they appear to be related.

My first Rhuematologist would test for lupus too many times , but it was negative.
Then, when I had to change and seen this one, he tested with another type test that tested the Double Strand something, and it showed positive first time. I will have to look up what it is called. His nurse said that when this one shows up positive it is quite accurate in showing lupus.

I hope you get the blood pressure under control. I was under the impression that you already had high blood pressure. It is March and the seasons are changing and so often it seems that flares show up. Take care. Irish

Hi susan,

Fortunately high blood pressure can be treated very effectively with medication, diet and exercise.  The key is finding the right medication (and dosage), and the taking it regularly.   You can buy a relatively inexpensive home blood pressure monitoring device, so that you can check your blood pressure frequently.

I was first tested for Lupus (repeatedly) by a very eager young Obstetrician who was sure my facial  'butterfly' was related to Lupus.  It was eczema, from which I suffered for the first 27 years of my life.

I don't have any autoimmune conditions, since I have no excess antibodies whenever I'm tested.  Lupus can be a difficult condition in many cases.

I hope you find help and reassurance soon.

He is putting me on prednisone for a bit. I also found out I will be going on the high levels of vitamin D again. I had only got off the high levels of it a couple of months ago. I don't know why mine goes low so fast.
