Hi,

One year back i developed dry eyes (doctor put me on restasis).

one year back - i developed nasal vestibulitis, doctor gave me amoxycillin antibiotic and it went away.
6 months back - i developed folliculitis on my face, doctor gave me dicloxycillin antibiotic and it went away.
now - i have developed folliculitis on my face again.....

i am wondering if this is something due to sjogrens?

please share your experience or views.

many thanks.

I have no clue, but I am wondering if this has been cultured cause MRSA can start in the nasal cavity and be harbored there. The MRSA can become dormant on occasions and then start back up. I would not be surprised if this is undiagnosed MRSA or staph infection that doesn't respond to most antibiotics.

I have had MRSA quite a few times. Most of us can have it harbor it in our nasal passages without any symptoms. It will become dormant or leave entirely. Only when it is cultured from an infected area are we aware of it. Irish

Thanks Irish,

My doctor tested my nostrils, armpits, hairs for "MRSA" and it turned out to be negative. Currently she is treating me with "anti fungal" medication.

What i am little more curious to know is, is it common for sjogren patients to run into nasal/face infection with staph bacteria or some fungus ? which causes folliculitis or nasal vestibulitis?

I am concerned because the doctors here do not seem to encounter sjogren patients....so i have to go to them with reference data from either internet or from data given by the beautiful helpful people on this forum.

Thanks.

I have not run around any info on then nostrils/underarms, etc. People with autoimmune diseases seem to have an increase in oral yeast so It would not surprise me if a yeast or fungus would show up on the body elsewhere. One thing is that inside the nose and under the arms, groin, etc are warm and moist and this provides a good breeding ground for fungus/yeast. Good luck, Irish
