Hello all
Needed some opinions on a personal matter that got me scared.
I developed Sjogrens after a Submandibular saliva gland, bacteria infection in 05/2015. I had an extremely dry mouth, but with Evoxac and Plaquenil, I am much better today.  Anyway, over the past week,  I have been in contact with a friend who was diagnosed today with the Mumps. This is just a friend, so no kissing, etc.  I was just wondering, if I did get  the mumps which infects the partoid gland, will Sjogrens kick in and dry me out again.
I had my mumps shot as a kid and I am currently 53, so I hope I am immune, but my friend also had the shot and
got mumps. Any ideas on if any virus can trigger sjogrens or just the bacteria type I originally had.  Thanks !!! Mike.

I think that this is something that you won't know until some weeks have gone by. I guess I would not worry about it until it happens. If it happens I would get in touch with your family doctor to see if an antiviral med would help cut down on the symptoms and length of the mumps.

We can't predict things like this unfortunately. This will depend on how much resistance your body still has to the mumps. My middle son at age 8 got a terrible case of the mumps and he had all this vaccines. The doctor did blood work to check for immune deficiency and he was ok.....except he got the mumps. good luck.

Also, none of have a clue which viruses or bacteria will cause us a flare or any other issues related to our Sjogrens. We just have to keep positive no matter what. Good luck. Irish

I know that the toneations for the mumps help with my dry mouth.
