Question for those who have had success with xiidra

I'm wondering how long xiidra takes to reach full effect? I've been on it for a little over a week, and my eyes actually feel less dry! I can work in front of a computer without being in complete misery. They are still very red though. I'm wondering if they will continue to improve more? I'd love to have normal looking eyes.

I'm also wondering if xiidra has restored anyone's ability to cry tears? I still am unable to, and surprisingly, that's something I really miss!

Hi.

I have been using Xiidra for nearly a year now.
I felt after 2 weeks my eyes felt wetter and after a month or two I noticed I used less
Drops during the day  .  Also, I put my last dose in right before I get into bed and I sleep
Till morning without putting additional eye drops in.


I haven't noticed if I could cry real tears though as I have not had an event where I would
Normally cry yet.

I am very pleased with Xiidra (Restarts never worked for me).

Good to hear! I also notice that when I wake up at night, my eyes aren't as dry. I still keep putting drops in at night, because I'm too scared to try skipping them but I wonder if I even need them now.

That's a good thing that you haven't cried for a while!

I have been using Xiidra for about 6 months now.  I noticed a difference within 24-48 hours of using it.....to me its been a miracle drug.

Xiidra took about a month for full effectiveness. I still get dry when I flare, but it's not as bad day to day. I don't use artificial tears unless I'm flaring or it's really dry. I did find that despite the drops I was getting dry at work thanks to the continually circulating air (which I sit directly under). My fix was to bring a little humidifier into work. It's been helping both my eyes and sinuses from feeling parched and luckily no one comments or cares about it. As for tears, I hadn't lost the ability to cry at the time I was put on Xiidra so I really can't address that.

Been on Xiidra 10 days now, and it seemed to help in some ways right off the bat (no formal diagnosis of SS). I was in denial of how serious my dryness had become until I didn't have enough moisture to manage the mucus; I ended up with thin layers of mucus coating my lower lids and face that would appear every time I tried to use artificial tears (seriously, I could peel them off my skin with a tweezers). The skin around my lower lids was puckering like fingers that have been in water too long, my ducts were clogging, and the irritation was horrible. That problem has been resolving, and my eyes do feel more moist.

I want to stay on this long enough to see how many of the side effects resolve, and if I will reap more benefit. Good luck to you!
