biofeedback?

Has anyone tried biofeedback?  I seem to have every muscle in my body tighten up and I feel like the tin man.  I seem to have a Rheumy who thinks I should try this and I was curious if any one had tried it and had any decent results.  I don't know anyone who has tried this so I'm not sure what to think.

Thank you

Sharon

I tried it years ago before the SS when I was having IBS and CFS symptoms.
It was really interesting and I continued for over 40 sessions.
It did help with muscle tension I wasn't even aware of, but it probably depends on what the source of that
muscle tension is. With me it had been stress so the biofeedback helped.
I'm thinking of going back to biofeedback since it was one of the few things that actually helped with something over the years.
Sjogren's (+ RA): positive ANA, RNP, RNP-A, APCA. Severe eye dryness + inflammation, multiple sensitivities and allergic reactions, fatigue.
ORENCIA, Restasis, Anti-inflammatory diet, Vit. D & C, Ubiquinol 100mg, Omega 3....

Are you talking occasional stress induced tension in muscles or something that is increasing in significance and affecting your daily living? Just curious as there is a disease called stiff mans syndrome that can affect people that is very debilitating but does have a treatment. Irish

Sharon,

Thank you!  It is the muscle tension I am trying to break!  I am fairly sure that tension is part of my problem.  I had not even known that muscle tension was a possibility until I switched PT's and this Pt is very aware of sjogrens and what it can do.  He actually has made a difference.

My doc will suggest new things, but since she knows how terrified of Doctors I am and will patiently wait until I will see the value in what she is saying.  She has mentioned biofeedback but I could not believe anything could help.

Irish, hopefully I do not have stuff mans syndrome!  I had never heard of that!  I will check it out.

Thank you both!

Irish, I hope I do not have stuff mans syndrome but will check it out!  Never did I ever think there were so many things a body could do!

Puzzled, I just started treatment for a similar muscle tightness and tension in my neck, back and shoulders.  I see a specially trained chiropractor who is using acupuncture, dry needling to release trigger points, ultrasound with an anti-inflammatory ointment, cupping, and mild manual stretching.

After only three visits, I feel better already.  Quite a turnaround, considering the suffering is a decade old.  I meditate routinely, which helps the healing too.

So while I am not experienced with biofeedback, I do see the benefit of "alternative" therapies.  Good luck.
