Hello all,

I have been reading very good things about Gellatin powder or Collagen tablets for joint pain improvement and also help for moisturizing the eyes.  I just started taking (a week ago) a tsp of Great Lakes Gellatin in the morning in a smoothie and then a Youtheory Collagen tablet with lunch and again with dinner.  The first week I noticed my insomnia basically went away.  I have had terrible middle of the night insomnia for years.  Not every night but at least 3 nights a week.  I have slept through every night for a week now (other than a bathroom trip).

Its early in starting this regimen but noticed after a week that last night was the first night I didn't have extreme back and knee pain when I awoke.  I am wondering about any of your experiences with either of these for your sjogrens symptoms and how long it took for you to see improvements.

Thanks  :D

I have taken collagen for a while, but I haven't noticed any real relief from joint pain.

I am adding a tart cherry/ bromelain supplement now. What would really help is if I'd lose the 20 pounds I've put on in the past 2 years.  :-[

I've begun good quality collagen powder.  I take it at night since one of the amino acids (forget which one) helps with sleeping.

It also contains some glutamine which is supposed to help repair the gut which could result in helping the dry eyes I guess.

I can't take glutamine on it's own, land hives.

I hear gelatin is good for you also.

I've found an increased dose of krill oil has helped my dry eyes somewhat & my ulcerated tongue.

It's all trial & error....

Cindi,

Any way you can get some relief is great news. Thanks for sharing that. It sounds like a great idea. What brand do you take? I quit taking my antidepressant and my dryness is a lot better. Every little bit helps.

The powder is the Great Lakes version.  I read hundreds of reviews before I ordered it, ha ha.

You theory collagen I actually got at Costco for a great price but is available on line.  I know from my emails with Great Lakes that they are identical in their makeup so either one will give you the same benefits.

The initial dose is 6 grams which is either 6 pills of the tablets or 2 tablespoons of the gellatin a day.  I did do that for a week but found it was making me really sleepy during the day probably due to the lysine in it and it did upset my stomach some.

Starting today I have cut back to 3 grams a day which I think should still give me the same benefits over time.

I'm writing down my thoughts week to week of what I am noticing.  I know the joints can take a month or two to improve.  I am happy to say that just the relief from insomnia alone is enough reason to keep taking it.

I am down to only 5mg lexapro now also (to help with the eyes).
