Has anyone ever had a maxillary sinus infection before?

I'm so upset.
Over ten days ago I was feeling toothache in all of my upper back teeth. I thought it was a root canal or wisdom tooth problem. Ends up that it took me a while to find out that I actually was having a big sinus infection.

I got a job at a big retail place, after ten years of being home. The doctor said that my immune system wasn't used to handle a lot of people and bacterias, so I got unlucky that way.
.
In any case, is not a good sensation, dry eye, painfull eye and cheeks, tooth ache...running low fever, so now I'm on a ten day antibiotic course.

Does anyone know how long it takes to really clear a sinus infection? Any tips?

I have had surgery for this twice. My sinuses are bad .. they don't move bacteria or gunk OUT. It just sits and gets infected.

I would use a sinus rinse 2-5 times a day .. mix up KOSHER salt and baking soda (if tolerated). I use the Neil Med plastic bottle for the rinses, but I react to bicarb, so I make my own.

I'm fine now that he cleared out the gunk and made a wider opening  near my nose.

I get them alot and also had two sinus surgeries over the last few years. They are miserable and hard to figure out. Mine are horrible right now because of the allergies making them even drier. I use some saline spray at night and a nasal gel all throughout the day. My ENT just told me that I had a little yeast in mine as well. Ughhhhh

Hope your feeling better soon. Warm washcloths on my face all the time helps a bit, along with humidifier.

I used to get these all the time before I started doing two things: daily Allegra and daily Neti Pot saline rinse. My allergists also recommended Flonase but I developed nose bleeds and decided that it wasn't worth it. I have only had ONE sinus infection in the years since I've started this routine.

While you have it, lots of steam with Vick's Vaporub. Antibiotics. Sometimes the first course doesn't clear it and you need a different type. Good luck! It's miserable, that's for sure.
