Anyone tried the whole 30 diet? Is it the same as paleo? If you've tried it, did it help lessen symptoms of inflammation?

I have family members on Whole 30, though for dieting and general health reasons rather than treatment of an autoimmune condition. They seem to like it and see benefits in those two areas. It can be rough to start.

At one point I was on the Autoimmune Protocol diet, which is similar to Whole 30 but a little more tailored toward autoimmune patients. Both the AP and Whole 30 cut out grains, dairy, soy, sugar, and most processed foods, so I imagine that you would see similar results from both. I found the AP diet to be helpful for symptom reduction, though my diet is a little more liberal today. I do tend to notice an increase in aches and sometimes dryness if I start to veer too far from my diet foods.

I'm on something similiar to the AP diet as well.
If I stray from it the pains worsen.

I follow the AIP diet although over the holidays,  I strayed off it a bit and definitely noticed an increase in dryness and joint pain.  Sugar, most grains and nightshades are the worst for me (although I also have celiac, so no gluten at all). I use a free app called Mealtime and it is very helpful with meal planning. It let's you customize your diet preferences. I find sticking to it is so much harder if I don't do the meal plans.
