Something for My Throat?

I use to be able to take 'swish and swallow' or another called 'miracle mouth wash', that seemed to help my mouth tissue and esophagus. I don't remember having the sore throats like now. Last time I tried to get it my insurance wouldn't pay for it.

Now I keep having strep throat, and taking amoxicillin. It gets better and in no time returns.

Does anyone here have any suggestions of what I could take that might help this issue?

Perhaps a more powerful antibiotic than Amoxicillin?  My ENT likes to give me Augmentin and one time he put me on it for 21 days.  It does clear up an infection!

Do you own a dog or a pet?  My doctor told me years ago, that our dog could be harboring Strep because the kids kept getting it all the time.  Also, I would throw away your old tooth brush and get completely new.

Also, I use oil of Oregano drops under my tongue when I feel a sore throat or sinus infection coming on.

I think I would ask for a culture and sensitivity of the exudate when the infection is active. The second part of the test will show which antibiotics the pathogen react best to.

While Amoxicillin is a good broad spectrum penicillin based antibiotic, first line for ear, nose, throat and upper respiratory infections; it is one of the penicillin derived drugs that pathogens are developing resistance to (the "M" in MRSA refers to methicillin) and while the resistant staph infections get all the press there is also  DRSP (drug resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae)

A lot of people harbor bacteria that is resistant to amoxicillin. You must use something else. I have had success with azithromycin as an alternative.

I hope your doctor is doing a culture and sensitivity cause without this test the antibiotic could not be the appropriate one. Also, I hope your blood sugar is under control cause the higher blood sugars can prevent healing. Good luck. Irish
