Good News: medication for Seizures and Neuropathic pain begun at last.

So my dearest Sjogren's Angels,

I began the initial dose of Depakote last night.  And immediate felt some major relief from the stinging, burning, stabbing pain and itching of my Small Fiber Neuropathy.

I haven't had any Myoclonic Seizures in the 5 days prior to beginning the Depakote, which is on label for myoclonus, so generally I would have one soon (the longest time between seizures is usually 4 or 5 days, and then I have a cluster of seizures sometimes \ several a day).  So only time will show if the seizures have also stopped.

It was worth going through the discontinuance of the Gabapentin, since it wasn't helping my Seizures (in fact I thought Gabapentin might be causing the seizures).

So I am feeling less misery.  However, I still have some itching and burning, and I'm such a baby that I want it ALL GONE.  However, I will take this trial month to see what happens.

It is so great that I have a Neurology team (me, my Neurologist and his Nurse Practitioner, a brilliant young woman) and we are working carefully on these neurological problems which have complicated my life so completely.

anyway, I'm not 'all better' and never will be, but I take what I can get and will keep on keeping on.

Caroline, So glad to hear that you got started on the Depakote. Hopefully, this will be a good Christmas present for you and control the seizures and the pain. Hang in there cause you can never tell when a med is going to make life better. Irish

Since you have a good team, did they also check your B6 levels?
