Moving to a condo - at last!

Dear Friends,

With all that has been happening health-wise these past years, I decided some time ago that we needed move to a condo, sell the house, and have some well deserved freedom.  You all know the story...too little energy and strength, too much pain, too much snow and yard work to be done.

Well, we "ordered" a new condo in a lovely complex, closer to my children than I am right now by ten minutes.  All the outside work is done for us and I even get to design everything inside.  It's quiet, and best of all I can see myself resting on the deck or enjoying one of the many surrounding trails and lakes, in the near future. Or at least by next summer.

The selling of the house will be the difficult part.  Already I feel myself welling up with emotion from time to time because I've lived here for nearly 25 years.  The packing and moving, well, that goes without saying that it will wipe me out for a very long time.

But it's the best thing for us and I plan to love it!  Just thought I would share the good news with my friends.  Good news seldom comes from my keyboard these days!

I love living in a condo.  Every Thursday I see the people taking care of the yard and can't help but smiling.  One thing I really like is misplaced objects are much easier to find - only a few places to look.  I hope your condo is as well maintained as mine.  Good luck.

Oh, that sounds really good. To be able to get rid of all the work and worry of a house. With all the rain we have had all over the country our basements need to be watched all the time too for water backup. You are certainly lucky to have made this decision and hope that selling the house goes well and moving also. That means you have to get rid of some stuff and that is the hard thing. Good luck. Thanks Katie and Irish!

I have been cleaning out, selling and getting rid of things around here for ten years now but this summer we started to get very serious.  Amazing how much stuff we won't need, what with no outside stuff to deal with.  It's tough to do though, in spite of all the excitement.

I can picture us looking outside, watching the snow fall gently with only the fireplace and coffee to think about!  And the dog park next door!

Congratulations on your decision to move to a condo, Carebear! I used to live in one and loved it compared to our house. So many stairs where we're living now - up and down many times a day. I look forward to condo living again someday.

How fun that you get to design the interior. Sounds like you'll have plenty of time to sort through your belongings and get rid of things a little at a time so you don't overdo it.

I know this is late care bear, but I wish you luck in your condo. I understand all the emotion but it sounds like you are going into a great place! I understand the desire to be free of all the yard work and responsibility.

Thanks everyone!  Things continue to move along steadily, with many things around the house sold or ready to go to someone who can use them.  We've never seen the garage so empty and spacious !

Winter has come early this year with snow staying for good last weekend.  We keep telling ourselves "one last season of snow shoveling".   We didn't get the lawn mower sold yet.  Think it's too late?

Congratulations!   I am so happy for you.  It is a great feeling to get rid of stuff. We did this a few years ago and been happy with our choice. Enjoy your new place!

Thank you, Anna!  I am going through more "stuff" tonight, finding things I've hung on to for twenty years yet never used.  We may need that...nope, we didn't.

The challenge now to ask myself "Do we really need this?" before I bring anything into the home.
