I have taken Plaquinel for the past 3 years for SS, but my eyes have become toxic.  So the Dr took me off and now my pain is back in my knees. I went to the Dr for my aching knees, but he couldn't see anything in x-Ray.  He gave me in-visc shots but they do not help..  What can I do about the pain. My  Rhuemotologist has not given me a replacement for plaquinel.  Now what???

Your dr. will have to give you something to replace the plaquenil as it was helping so much. I too could not take plaquenil and had to stop it after a week as it caused a psoriasis reaction on my scalp that was painful. My dr. put me on low dose Imuran and after a few weeks it really helped a lot. Alas, now I can't take it anymore as it caused my liver levels to rise and the cellcept just doesn't work it seems - at least for me. Looking for something else I guess. Wishing you a decent Saturday.

Oh I am sorry. I tried Plaquenil twice and couldn't stand the side effects after about six months and had to quit.

All that they have been able to do is treat my symptoms. I take Evoxac for dryness, Tylenol for or tramadol for pain, Restasis for my eyes, and other meds for other issues.

I am not aware of any other options that are like Plaquenil other than biologics. My docs have avoided them because I am so medication sensitive.
