Slurred or Mumbled Speech

Hi Everyone,

A little about me.  I am new to this site, and this is my first post.  I am a 34 year old, male who was diagnosed with Sjogrens after having dry patches in my eyes, a dry throat, an ANA titer of 1:2560, and low C3 compliments.   My ANA is now 1:640 and has been that way for 3 years.

So my question is that after I exercise, or on days that I a really tired, I get stumbled or slightly, slurred or mumbled speech.  Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?  I have had my heart and blood sugar checked and everything appears to be normal.  I also had a brain MRI w/ contrast and that was also normal.  My neuro thinks that it may be attributed to autoimmune fatigue?  It is very scary and I am at a loss.  Any input would be much appreciated.   Thanks so much.

Currently, I am taking Plaquenil, Imuran, and Evoxac

Welcome to our site. It is very possible that fatigue is involved. I used to stumble with my speech and get a spasm or quiver in my jaw and mouth when I spoke. This was back when I was working and was so tired plus I was talking with staff and other co-workers. Don't have that problem now that I am older and retired.

Also, it might be that you are being too overactive some days and then your body is paying the price. I have that problem with fatigue when I do some things that never bothered me before. Do you notice any other problems with muscle weakness with fatigue?? It cold be that you are having some neuro issues that need to be checked out. Just a thought. Hope this helps some. Good luck. Thanks for the response, Irish.

I don't have muscle weakness, but I do have constantly sore, tired muscles.    It is very frustrating.   Slurring your speech is scary.   :-[

I agree with Irish.  When I get overtired or work too much, the same thing happens to me.  Before I was diagnosed with Primary Sjs, I paid attention to every little thing that happened in my body.  It would just make me more stressed and anxious.  Then it would get worse.  It is when we pay exclusive attention to something that is going on, that it seems so much more exaggerated.  What you are going through may pass.  I hope so.  Mine did.
