Has anyone had any luck with nuvigal?  I seem to be stuck in severe fatigue.  Normally I wouldn't even try something like this, but I really need to be able to be awake for a few days.

Today was the first day I tried it and I think it would make a great antihistamine, but am seeing no improvement in being not so darn tired.

If anyone has had any experience good or bad, I would appreciate the knowledge.

Thank you

Hello,

Many of us here are stuck in massive, severe fatigue - I certainly am.

If you only need to be awake for a few critical days now and then, have you tried espresso?   Coffee and espresso both have negative side effects of course, however, they are substantially less than those experienced with more powerful, and potentially dangerous, energy medicines such as nuvigil, provigil, or adderall (I will include effexor here as well).

I find espresso to be kind of unpleasant to consume, however, it definitely can make me start moving around much more more than my usual - my usual being in bed either half-asleep or asleep most hours on a typical day.  I may be too sick to do this now, however, when I used to drink espresso for an energy boost I usually only wanted to do it for one day, and then not the next because it seemed very unappealing on the second day.

If you do decide to take one of the medically-prescribed accelerants/anti-depressants, it is my experience that people do best who take them for a rare occasional boost, and not daily.  However, if one is health-conscious then they would avoid these destructive medicines for even occasional use - that is not much good to say about their effects on the body, and the energy that people get from them tends to not be "normal-healthy-useful" energy, but rather "artificial-unhealthy-jittery-non-useful" energy.

Good luck, and I hope you can figure out how to function well enough to do what you must do in the most graceful and healthy manner possible.  This is perhaps that one topic area where I might suggest that people on this Forum (not necessarily me, but collectively all of us) know more than our prescribing doctors do.

This is my experience: Nuvigil  Did give me fake energy, for about 3 hours.

It was definitely not worth the 'crash', as my body wound down into a fatigue fog, as well as raised blood pressure.

We are so very desperate for energy; I understand why you want to try this stimulant. My primary care dr said that he & his colleagues used it to moonlight for extra $$ in ER! He no longer uses it. I guess he paid off his student loans.

I hope you get some relief, soon.
