Hello everyone,
Any of you have problems with your teeth or have gotten new teeth (dentures or implants) because of sjogren's or dry mouth rotting your teeth?

I have tons of cavities and bad dry mouth and I'm just thinking of getting all of my teeth removed so that I can get either dentures or implants.  It's ridiculous what I go through with my teeth despite me brushing them twice and day, flossing and dealing with dry mouth...

meena,

I have not been affected as much in my mouth as others on the site here, have. One forum member, who is also in my local Sjogren's Support Group, had loads of problems. RipVann got
her dentures last year I think. You could private message her to discuss it. I know that she is pleased with her decision to have her teeth, or what was left of them, pulled.

Good Luck.

Hi  :)

My mouth is a disaster area and I have partial dentures top and bottom and numerous crowns. I have visited the dentist every 4 months the whole of my life. They appreciate that I DO know how to keep my teeth clean - but still they crumble. They have been bad since childhood.

I always suspected my teeth didn't 'self clean' at night and that I was short on saliva. The rest of my family - and my siblings - have good teeth.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hi Meena-I spent thousands of dollars several times over about 30  years. Last year, when I was told things needed to be redone, for about thirty thousand, I decided that was it. I had all my upper teeth extracted with an immediate denture. I had already had a partial on the lower with 5 teeth left that were okay, so I had the partial redone. Best decision ever.Dentist knew about Sjogrens which dentists over the years did not. I had cavities and infections under the crowns that didn't show up on x rays or a CT scan, so I am a lot healthier now.
Good luck to you.My decision was right for me.

Son just learned he needs some dental work.
Root and canal +crown = $3000
A filling is $300.
Dental coverage plan at work is tawdry.
Been looking online for plans?

I am going to need alot of restorative work done.
We even have looked at the possibility of going to Mexico or another country to get it done.
The price differences are that dramatic.

There is literally a ton of info on dental issues, treatments, problems, dentures, implants, etc on this site. Do a search using any words you can come up with regarding the subject and cover many years. You should find a whole bunch. I say this because so many of us have addressed the issue over the years and it takes lots of posting to get our info out there. This is from someone who had many, many root canals, abscesses, caps, bridges and finally got them to pull my last 19 teeth. Dentures since 2004 and thrilled to death with them. No more dentist or infections.Irish
