Last evening my grandson came over while I was pulling a few weeds. He told me to look behind me and up in the sky. Holy cow, there were dragonflies by the hundreds. I told him to google it when he went home. I did a search and it was very interesting. People don't know where they are coming from and where they are going and it has been a huge scientific mystery for years. Some of the articles I read said to keep track of when you see them and etc. and gave a site to notify with your findings.

There was a link that took me to a fellow who lives up by Duluth, MN and he said that he followed them into the sloughs by the Boundary Waters. I just think it is interesting that Mother Nature is still keeping ahead of the scientist. I am going to keep watch again today and tonight. Anyone see any in your area? Irish

I have a brother-in-law who really, really wants to see a bunch of migrating grasshoppers. The dragonflies sound spectacularly beautiful!

I have seen the migrating grasshoppers a couple of times in my married life out here in the country. They are pretty thick and quite a few on the ground. Thankfully, they are not as thick and all over the house, etc like they were during the dustbowl back in the 1930's. I guess during the dust bowl the grasshoppers ate everything in site. Hard to believe some of the stuff that they can eat. Sort of like a goat--!

It was getting toward dusk so I could not get a really good look at the dragonflys, but I sure enjoyed the pictures that I found when I did the searches. I am so glad that they didn't come down low and get in my hair. Also, they were fairly well spaced so they weren't any sort of hazard.  I didn't know what they were until my grandson told me. Irish

Granddaughter and I have been seeing some smaller long dragonfly-like insects.. a reddish orange color.
Maybe damselflies? Read up and some migrate too. Saw them at the other home also.

More butterflies since I put in more perennials.. a monarch along with the blue butterflies.

Felt a flutter.. looked and saw this guy or gal..

" Hummingmoth" .. Wow.
Suppose to be sign a 'good' luck.. I am waiting.  Of course I felt so lucky to see it..  :D

Great picture and colorful. Has anyone seen any sphinx moths in their flowers?? Years ago I had huge blooming 4 o'clocks in front of my living room windows and as late sumer came these things came that I thought were hummingbirds. Took me a while and a look in my encyclopedia (no computers then) to find a picture of the moth and figure it out. They really are not colorful but fun to watch as they are so active. Irish

The other day I was on the deck talking to my cousin who lives 80 miles north.
All of a sudden a hummingbird!
I tell her and she tells me one just came to her as well.

She was giving me support on the Estate stuff.. still going on .. and her mother and mine were very, very close.. we chose to think of it as a positive sign. My cousin and I got back in touch when Mom was Dx'd and we are so happy.

The only thing on the deck were a few scraggly looking gold marigolds in pot. Slim pickings.

My photos are still on cell phone.. had to find one on the net..
I have some pics of little lavender colored butterflies from our trip too.
And some Elk that were in an intersection, holding up traffic on the winding mountain road.

It was so nice of your mothers to say hello! A very sweet moment. I asked my Grandma Freda to send me a butterfly, and one day in early March a small white butterfly came by me. It didn't land on me or anything, but it took  a couple of months before I realized that it had been really early. Then a friend send me her funeral program, and the cover of the program was that same butterfly.

I always plant butterfly bushes for her.
