" Typically, the northern (and southern!) lights are seen more frequently at higher northern (and southern!) latitudes, but due to the increased magnitude of solar energy from Wednesday's coronal mass ejection, the aurora borealis could dip down as far south as southern New England."

Northern lights expected to dazzle across northern U.S. — including New York
The aurora borealis is expected to shimmer in the skies as far south as Maryland Friday and Saturday night. Darker areas upstate and even out on Long Island are described as being in a 'fair' to 'good' area to catch the radiant show.
