I had tested low again for my b12. I had my first shot last month which I didn't notice any change in how I felt, but yesterday had my second injection and by last night felt better than I have felt in the past 6 months. I almost cried feeling some energy flow through me.

I couldn't sleep last night, because I felt so elated that I felt some energy. I know that wasn't the wisest thing to do, but I cherished it so much.

I know one thing, my doctors are going to hear a lot from me about getting all the b12 injections I need, and keep on top of it. I read where just stopping them at the low end of normal is not the wisest. I want mine to rise to a good middle of the numbers and see how I feel.

Just wanted to let this be known.

I too have tested low in B12 recently.  My neuro at Hopkins said the typical protocol is one shot (1000 mcg) daily for one week, then one shot (1000 mcg) weekly for one month, then  monthly injections of the same dose.

I haven't started because of my blood thinners may be contraindicated for IM injections, so I will probably go an oral route.

But thought you might have better results if you were given a regimen like above.  Might want to ask your doctor about this.  At least you got some benefit from the last shot.

Susan ..... I am glad the B12 seems to be helping you and that you notice an improvement. I hope this continues and you keep feeling better and better.

Anita that protocol sounds great. I don't think I am going to get that here though. I may call my Rhuematologist about it. It's a nurse practitioner that is giving me one a month.

She is at a health center practically out our front door. My specialist do send her my records, but unless she hears a direct thing on protocol from them she is very cautious. The center is very handy, but it may not be the best way to go.

I did take some sublingual pills too. I also read that taking folate along with it is good so I did that too.

Jasper thank you also for your thoughts. I sure do hope as I get it up that I will continue to feel better. I told my husband that it's not like I don't have all the same pain, and other issues, but to feel a bit of real energy even for a while during the day felt like a miracle.

I too have notice improvement since starting to take the B12 shots.  I started with once and week and now do them every month.  My numbers are still on the low side of normal but at least it's better than it was.  Mine was dropping fast and the pills didn't seemed to be doing any good.  My Rheumy says that Sjogren's can damaged our stomach ability to use B12.  It just passes right through us without being used by our bodies.
Primary SJS, dRTA, Osteroporis, OAB, stage 3 kidney disease, hypothyroid and high blood pressure.  Medicine I take are plaquenil, bicarb, prolia, synthroid, toprol and amolipine, citracal and vitamin D.  I use Arex and Azasite and Prolia.  I also have Reynaud's and osteoarthris of the toes
