My daughter is helping with a friend of hers on a Golf outing fundraiser.  This is the 4th year now I think she said.  But this will be her first time at really getting into the paperwork/behind the scenes stuff. The funny part of this was when she told the guy she would help out he started to tell her it was to raise money for Sjogrens and then went into all the details about the disease.  She was like hey I know all about it my Mom has had it for years. It just so happens so does his mom.    Small world~

So today we were talking about how to get more people to know about the fundraiser. (its not until September)    This is the first year they have talked with the Sjogrens support group people, not sure they will be a lot of help.  She is going to hit the local fitness centers and YMCA along with the local hospital for starters. We thought maybe they would get a team together or throw in something for the goody bag.  So do any of you have some good Idea's?

I told her depends on how I feel that day but I would at least come and ride on the golf cart.  ;D   Thanks~ Debbie

Well if the depending on the money situation (401c, how it is handled, etc.) you could contact some companies in the area for either a corporate sponsor or sponsors. Lots of time companies will give you stuff you can put in the "goodie" bags just to promote their products.

I volunteer for a small group that is 401c certified that helps low income people keep their companion pet. I work for a corporate entity That sponsors us once year in a fund raiser and also lets us put boxes by the front doors before Christmas to get pet food, etc. donations.

Not sure if there is a "corporate" Sjogrens you have to go thru so others here could answer that.

The big way to earn money is to sell sponsorships for different holes, sand traps and water traps. There are tons of ideas out there. Just search "raising money golf tournament" for more. I have two places I found in this post.

Personally, I would probably enjoy organizing one, but not playing. Unless you had a pro at every hole to hit for me!

Enjoy!

thanks for your input ~ Everyone in my family plays but me.  I will dig a hole to china to plant a tree but will not chase around a little ball.
I will pass this information onto her.  I know my daughter has her own photography business and she sponsors a hole or something.  I think they have a few local business's helping out but everything is on a small scale right now. Last year there was only 12 teams I think.  She was thinking if they get more people playing that would help network with more companies.

anyway this will give her something to start with... Thanks so much.

Your daughter could contact the Sjogren's Foundation and get some pamphlets to have available telling about Sjogren's.

Golf balls can be stamped with words.  Take some sleeves of golf balls and have them stamped and sell them at the event.  (Of course, you don't want to spend a lot of money when the goal is to make money - unless you can get the golf course to donate some balls and maybe the company that engraves can donate their cost or at least give you a discount.  You never know until you ask.)

Maybe take some water bottles and put a Sjogren's sticker on it?  (I know this doesn't help with any sponsorship for the event, but, it could turn into a teaching tool that patients with Sjogren's NEED to carry water with them at all times due to dry mouth, etc.)

Another area to look at is with local dentists, eye doctors and Rheumy's offices as all Sjogren's patients need all three of these doctors - perhaps they would do a sponsorship, and in return have their names printed as sponsors or have business cards, etc., from their business.

And for actual Sjoggies, you can sell golf tees with a marble glued to them. Miniature gazing globes! I almost bought some.

We have been planning a golf tournament for six months now, that is at the end of this month.  It is for Scleroderma and our support group decided to try this.  Now, that being said, unless it has windmills and dinosaurs, I know nothing!  We have been lucky that one of the spouses is in a big Country Club and formed a committee from there to get it all done.

What we as members were asked to do was look for hole sponsors and beverage cart sponsors.  We also were in charge of getting "door prizes" from our local businesses, getting volunteers to help the day of and trying to get teams to play.  We had a goal of 25 teams (100 golfers) and right now, we have 23 teams.  Woot Woot!

We did contact our State Chapter (which I am a board member) and our National Organization to help spread the word.  We've been using Facebook and Twitter to get the word out.  That's been working great.  I would post the flier, once a month, on all our local television stations Facebook pages.  I also took around flyers to all of the golf courses in the community.  They normally have a rack where they will let you put tournaments.

They are selling mulligans the day of the tournament, having a hole in one contest (using the putting green) and providing all the golfers lunch and a shirt as part of their entry fee.

My best suggestion is to try and find someone that is a well-known golfer in the community to help chair the event.  They have the most golfing world contacts.  We were lucky to pull in the golf coach from our college to help.

Thanks ~ I will pass this onto her.  I am not sure who all they have contacted with sjogrens Foundation but I do know they have talked with someone.

I talked with her yesterday and she was just finishing the flyer's.  The outing is not until September, but that will be here before you know it.

Sharon ~ I am making a mini gazing globe, but it is for my fairy garden I am planting.  ;D
