???  Doing a bit of reading on here and Google and it seems weight loss is kind of expected.  Mine is just going up despite eating better and less than ever.

Why are you expecting weight loss? Do you think it is from Sjogren's or are you expecting it because of medication? Some people experience loss of appetite when going on Plaquenil but when the body adjusts to the med that disappears.

If you give us further detail we would like to help you better with your question.
Sjogren's, seronegative RA,  ckd, hyperparathyroidism, asthma,  osteoporosis,  Meds:  amlodipine, low dose Prednisone, calcium, sodium bicarbonate. Also, multivitamin and B complex

I also can't lose weight --- even though I've started going to a gym at least four days a week where I walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes (for cardio) followed by some weight lifting exercises for another 20 minutes.

I also eat very healthy and below 1300 calories.

But in the past six months, I've actually gained a pound!

So I feel your pain!   :P :-[

With the plethora of illnesses and symptoms I have had my whole life...sadly..weight loss is not one of them.

I only hoped for a mildly suppressed appetite...enough to maintain the ability to wear the middle & low ranged sizes in my closet.  Gee...part of it could be the chronic constipation issue.
My luck further includes medications that seem to always have weight gain as a side effect. Just doesn't seem fair does it?
If we have to contend with all of this chronic stuff, you would hope that at least one symptom could work in our favor.

There's a good site for tracking calories called LoseIt!!

It's a very long process of continual under eating to lose weight.

Exercise doesn't really help all that much.

I wondering why simply because food doesn't really appeal to me anymore.  I seem to crave things that will satisfy thirst like apples, watermelon, drink more water than ever and with that still am gaining weight, bloated alot.  Kinda doesn't make sense.

I have a lap band.  I am supposed to be losing weight but just like some others I have read, I am gaining.  A lot of foods taste salty to me when others tell me its not.   I made cole slaw for a get together which requies about 2 teaspoons of salt for 3-4 lbs of slaw.  when I taste tested, all I could taste was the salt.  Tasted like I put the whole shaker in there.  I took it with me and had my son-in law taste it before putting it out for company.  He said it did not taste salty at all and it was the best batch I ever made.  The others raved about it.  I have cut out a lot due to the burning mouth issue. no ketchup, tomatoes or anything acidic.  Nothing tastes right.  I have basically been eating chicken, turkey, yogurt some veggies and fresh fruit.  lots of water since I am so thirsty all the time and have gained 20lbs.  go figure.  I cant go for a fill cause my total quanity for a meal is 4-6oz which is where I am supposed to be.  I am on ritalin which is supposed to help me lose (even though thats not what I am taking it for) and I still gain. So those of you not losing, dont feel bad you are not alone.

stprdi, I'm with you --- I love apples and celery and ice water!  I also agree that things don't taste the same as they once did, and I don't like foods I once liked.  And maybe because I'm getting older and I've realized life is too short, but there are foods I used to be able to tolerate (lima beans springs to mind!) that I won't eat at all anymore!  :)

Oh yes, things taste and smell completely different now.

And I put LOTS of salt on everything.

We're all different.  Sjogren's the gift that keeps on giving.

I am on a strict candida diet and believe me, weight loss happens. I've lost more than I need to lose.

Have you had your thyroid checked?  There are also several meds that can make you gain weight or retain water.

Although it sounds like you are very busy and active, I find that when I feel the worst I  lay down allot more, am more sedentary and not as active hence gaining a little weight sometimes, also depends on my appetite.  When I am having bad days or weeks, I tend not to eat much.

If you continue to have issues, you may want to go to the drs to have a few simple blood tests run for your thyroid.

Food tastes different to me as well and the things I used to like and crave, I no longer eat or want.
Best of luck to you.

Weight loss is always a good thing.  During the past 10 years I have lost 18 pounds on two different occasions because I was seriously sick.  Each time I didn't gain back all that I had lost when I recovered.  Even so I'm still about 5 pounds over where I should be, but when I see my hematologist he always asks if my weight is stable.  What a change from when I used to worry a lot about being 5 pounds over and now.  I'd like to lose that 5 pounds but am hoping I could do so by choice and not because of another serious problem.  SS is more of an adventure than I would have imagined had I known about it before having it!

I am a long time hypothyroid and my TSH has a habit of being all over the map.  In Dec. it was checked and my TSH was 8.0 (quite high) so he increased my Synthoid from 77 to 88 mcg.  Now 5 months later it is quite low at .48  I can't win.  They don't seem bothered that it changes so much.  I just know that I feel it.  It's just so frustrating.  Doesn't matter what I do.

Some of us gain, some of us lose. All my docs say eat a balanced diet. I stay away from sugar, dairy and gluten which leaves lean meats, veggies and lots of fruit.

Salt it ok, but too much can cause water retention and bloating. Are you by any chance a soda drinker (diet or not)? If so there is increasing evidence that drinking diet soda actually causes weight gain by blocking brain receptors that make you feel full.

Also, from experience and reading I know that very low calorie diets can cause rebound weight gain. Your body will start to hold onto every calorie in an effort not to starve.
