My son is 75 mi away so I'm blessed that he is ok.  over 100 dead in fertilizer plant explosion and death toll expected to be very high.  This town is almost destroyed and the pictures are devastating.

I am saddened by all these terrible things happening.  It's hard to reassure kids when there is an explosion every other day.

I just saw it on CNN TV and they said that 2 dead so far and part of the town had immense damage  to homes with 2600 people or so being evacuated.

CNN online also states 2 dead. It would not surprise me if more but depends on how many people were at work when it happened. TErrible tragedy. So much bad stuff going on lately it is hard to keep up and hard to mentally process all the info and suffering. IRish

I didn't read the story as I can't take it so I didn't know, but was thinking, was this just some sort of an accident?? or something else?

The fertilizer plant exploded, fire, then exploded again and just was horrific.  Don't look at the pictures if this bothers you as it's devastating.  Fatality rate over 100 and rising.

Prayers to all affected.

Tinker I am so thankful your son is ok. I have been watching the new. I guess we will hear a lot more in the morning.

Thanks for your kind words, Susan.  yeah, we will hear more tomorrow and I don't think I can watch for long.  It's too gruesome.   So sad.

I hadn't heard either, but I, too, don't watch much news as it is pretty depressing.  There is enough "bad" stuff in my own life without the stressors of the outside world placing more on me. So sorry to hear of this! How horrible!  Hope there is as few as possible fatalities!!!  Even a single one is too many!

This is not far from Waco Texas.  The shock was felt by people 50 miles away and even reportedly felt in the Dallas-fort worth area. 5 blocks around the fertilizer plant were destroyed including at least 60 homes and an apartment complex and nursing home. 170 people injured.  5 to 15 people dead. 5 fire fighters are still unaccounted for.  House to house search is still going on. The area is being treated as a crime scene "just in case".  Half the population evacuated(1400 people).

Prayers going out to the people of this town.

Very sad. I'm from Texas.  Praying for all of the people there and their extended families.

Just wanted to say thinking of you all. It has been such a hard week for you over in the States and I hope you can find some comfort in the way people pull together and try to help the healing process.

Much love, Ailsa xx
