Term Life Insurance

I changed jobs in December so lost my life insurance through my employer.  The new employer is a small company so didn't offer their own life insurance but I had a 1 time opportunity to get a Tem Life policy through AFLAC without having to go through the medical etc... (no medical to qualify).  I was really worried I would be turned down but everyone who opted for it would automatically qualify and can take the policy with them if they ever leave.

I am soo happy.  I had been turned down several years ago when I tried to get a private policy.  Ive been told I would never qualify because of the autoimmune disease/Sjogrens and Thyroid diagnoses.  So I now have Life insurance so my family won't have to deal with funeral costs, paying off my mortgage etc... if I should die (not meaning to be morbid, I don't think I am going anywhere anytime soon, but you never know.  I am over 50).  When I was younger, I didn't ever purchase Life Insurance because I was told I didn't need it since I didn't have any children/family etc...  I wish I hadn't listened because it would have been really cheap when I was in my 20's.  I was in my early 40's when I started thinking about it again even though I wasn't married and didn't have children, I did have a mortgage and loans and didn't want my family saddled with having to deal with that, plus funeral costs.  I was devestated when I was "rejected" because of my sjogren's/autoimmunity and thyroid diagnoses.

It sure is funny how we think of these things as we grow older.  My hubby and I also purchased burial plots, we will be buried one on top of the other, this was to save some dollars.

Glad you got the insurance.

Cricket....I never would have thought of burying one on top of the other, but that works.  I have thought of doing funeral arrngements early too, to save my family the trouble during a difficult time.  Haven't taken that step yet though.

My Mom, husband, brother and I will be cremated and our ashes put in the same family plot. We are going to sneak in our dogs' ashes into ours, too. It is a beautiful little cemetery in the Yampa Valley, and the only cost is adding to the stone and opening the grave.

My grandparents and their little baby, and my Dad are already there. It will be cozy!

Funny, I was just filling in info to get a quote on term life insurance, and know I will probably be turned down, but thought I would try.

I didn't know we could be buried on top of each other. Kind of neat.
